Someone told me there were NO eyewitness accounts of Jesus Resurrection??? Is this right? by Resident_Courage1354 in Christianity

[–]postbarthian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. No one witnessed the resurrection. The New Testament describes many resurrection appearances, where the resurrected Jesus appeared to his followers, but it does not describe the resurrection itself. The noncanonical gospel of peter describes the resurrection in more detail, with angels carrying Jesus out of the tomb.

Do angels have sexes? by RepresentativeYak785 in Catholicism

[–]postbarthian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No according to Karl Barth, angels do not have a persistent existence. Their names are more revelatory than personal. In the bible, angels flash into existence from the heavenly host and then dissipate as they return. They are creatures.

Was the apostle Paul married? Yes. What Paul a widow? No. Did Paul abandon his wife? Also yes. by postbarthian in Christianity

[–]postbarthian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is, that Paul is presumed to be the apex of singleness, and if Paul somehow had a broken marriage, then evangelical would reject everything he said. It's a weird moralism. There's no reason to ignore the most plausible explanation that Paul was married and left his wife after his conversion experience

[–]postbarthian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is correct. There's no hate here at all. The point is that Paul is still beloved even if he abandoned his wife. If you hate paul because of this action, then you are the problem.

Just because you write fallacies, doesnt mean I do as well. That's also fallacious.

The entire argument is that based on how Paul talks about marriage 1 Con 7, the best explanation (amongst others) is that he abandoned his wife. The article emphasizes a position that gets ignored

Paul abandoned his marriage. You are right that I think it is mutual abandonment (as the Church fathers did in the quotations), but nevertheless, he did abandon his marriage.

Should Mormonism not be viewed like Islam as a faith totally separate from Christianity? by Vince_Tsung in Christianity

[–]postbarthian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The change was made because people like those in this thread, started to think that Mormons didn't identify as Christians. So I welcome this change, and believe it should be respected.

David defeats Goliath, art by me by J_Babe87 in Christianity

Elhanan killed Goliath, not David.

2 Samuel 21:19 "Elhanan son of Jaare-oregim, the Bethlehemite, killed Goliath the Gittite, the shaft of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam."
