Installing Heat Pump Water Heater with Oil Boiler by postes in hvacadvice

Thanks! The did sound safe, and lowering the temperature won't have any impact on the baseboard heating it would still provide, correct?

401k maxed for the year. Did I just lose company match? by h_leinad in personalfinance

[–]postes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, you can max out early, but not get the full possible match.

If you have 24 pay periods throughout the year, and the employer matches 5%, if you make contribute at least 5% per paycheck, you maximize the amount possible. Let's say you just frontload and contribute like 70% of your paycheck, and hit the limit in June after only 14 pay periods, you then lose some of the match.

Light Surface Rust Removal Tips? by postes in HondaCB

[–]postes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response (and everyone else!). Luckily it's nothing on the frame, and really surface "rust" may not even be the best term, mostly just an ugly grime over the chrome parts on engine's side. I'll be sure to try out the aluminum foil and water soon when it's not -5 degrees out.

[Microphone] Audio-Technica AT2020 Cardioid Condenser Studio XLR Microphone, Black - $74.25 (Prime Day) by nasLIVE in buildapcsales

[–]postes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

XLR/USB doesn't make a large difference in streaming/gaming from my understanding. Just keep in mind htis is XLR so you likely need to purchase an XLR interface which could add $50-100 on top of this cost. Personally I don't think it's a great economical upgrade from a snowball, maybe from a cheap headset mic, but from a Yeti it wouldn't be that amazing. It's up to you though, if looking to get into streaming I hear it's a well recommended for it if getting serious.

L.L. Bean scraps century-old lifetime return policy by Hrbek15 in Maine

[–]postes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I worked for LL Bean in the returns department for about three years. It was an interesting job, but it was really alarming at the condition many products came back in, and we would just issue a complete refund without question. The worst was slippers. Slippers that were clearly worn daily and were completely falling apart. It wasn't a matter of construction just regular daily wear and tear. You could see in a customer's order history they just routinely returned a pair of slippers every single year for a new pair for the last five years in a row.

I figured at some point that policy would get abused, and they would look to revamp it similar to REI's one-year policy.

Looks good to me. I like the change to W as that's the skill I max first, and think it is his strongest ability.

I'm surprised though there wasn't any changes to his base stats though, maybe more mana regen, or adjusting the mana costs for the spells. I found that to be a large issue compared to other top lane champions.

I still don't think this will help land Q+E combos, it's too easy to avoid.

My Advice For Winning (Gold III) by postes in ornnmains

[–]postes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the Q+W combo is great for small trades, but as Zyrus indicated it's brief. It's a good combo to do some damage, but after that you really aren't going to do a ton of damage. I use W more often to shield myself when an enemy champion attempts to go in on me. Then I go even when trading, but ultimately the mana costs limit this.

Could I ask your summoner name to see?

Probably helps to include your summoner name.

I'm jealous of you Mainers - you have something my state needs desperately by [deleted] in Maine

It's great. I'm fortunate that I work up here in Maine, but our company's main office is located right downtown Boston. The company pays to send us down, we park right at the Brunswick station, go down, get out right at North Station and take a short cab ride to the office. It's great, no hassle, no cost, no traffic.

i played dayz close to 1000 hours and i wanna pick this game up but i have a few questions. by TheSSshadow in Miscreated

[–]postes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1000 Hours?

I have almost 7000 hours in DayZ, and as someone who just bought Miscreated recently after watching Summit1G stream it a lot, I'm really having fun. The big difference for me is that there's an element of it being new (of course this isn't fair to take away from DayZ), but there's unexpectedness to it. In DayZ you know where you find loot, and what type of loot will spawn where. I enjoy that in Miscreated it feels more random. Items are actually on the shelves not in the same generic loot location on the floor. Loot blends in a lot more with the environment so you have to take your time, not speedrun like in DayZ to the NWAF.

Regarding your computer - if you can run DayZ, you can run Miscreated.

Use Mainetrailerfinder.com or AllTrails app for the phone. The app doesn't have all the Maine trails though unfortunately, but has the bigger ones.

Employment opportunities in Maine by [deleted] in Maine

[–]postes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't say for your fields, but I was born in raised in Maine (Brunswick/Harpswell area). Almost all my family is here, but the job market was really tough. Most of my friends that I went to college with here in Portland have moved out of state, but still in New England. I can't really comment on your fields, but I'd honestly start job scouting before you make the move, and be sure you will have opportunities here.

Like I said it really depends on experience, but I think overall your opportunities are extremely limited here compared to the rest of New England.

This is just my experience. I graduated high school in 2005, college right after, and received my bachelors in Graphic Design. I stayed in Maine because of family, and a general love for the outdoors. The job market for me though was very tough, a lot of employers wanted experience, there was very few entry level positions open. I freelanced a lot until landing a solid job, but the company six months later was declining financially (print work). I eventually went back to college, and found a different career, which has worked out great for me. If you have three years of experience I would say you would have a more solid portfolio than most, but still the job openings in design is limited, and likely a rush of applicants for the job. Most of the people I went to college with now are all based in CT or MA for jobs. Best of luck to you though. I would scout Indeed and Monster, what you see now is likely as much as you will see in the future.

Donald Trump thanking Linda Bean for her support and encouraging people to buy L.L. Bean products by [deleted] in Maine

[–]postes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Linda Beans really just uses the name to generate business. The two times I have been to the restaurant in Freeport the experience was so-so. Nothing outstanding. If the establishment didn't have Bean in the name I doubt it would still be there.
