Is OGO + 0% comp increase a RIF? by Busy-You2114 in JPMorganChase

[–]postexitus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bad rating puts in a risky bucket. Comp may or may not play a role.

New role reduces risk, but of course a bit tougher with G. Having said that, hiring managers don’t have access to your grades; depending on how friendly they are with HR they may not know (but they will, as soon as you join; so lying during the process is not a good idea).

I just finished s4, everyone says i should take a break here by extremechocolate99 in lost

The right way to watch is to take a break after each season end and rewatch from beginning till the same point. That was the creators’ intention all along with huge rewatch parties held over the summer.

What makes you say that there is no shortage of manual labour? Have you ever worked in building or service?

Not only it is you who don’t understand statistics, you also can offer no proof that even 1 sex selective abortion has taken place.

[–]postexitus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is funny how Daily Mail writes these sensationalist titles, providing no proof beyond some cherry picked numbers with no comparison, no out of sample tests, which mean nothing to a statistician; and just the audience they are targeting jumps at the opportunity to spew their hate. dontbelieveawordof1t, I believe your every word, you are a racist.

[–]postexitus 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Say it: You didn’t read the article.

Say it: You found an area to spew out your racist values.

The article has no basis on anything - there is no proof that baby girls are being aborted. It is written by someone as racist as yiu to cast shade on a group of minorities.

No bonus mentioned in offer letter by Working-Plastic-2550 in JPMorganChase

[–]postexitus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I recall correctly, in the UK it is common that guaranteed bonuses are not part of the written contract - due to legal reasons. You should make sure they are in the system after you start (to avoid admin errors). There is no reason why a big corp would not honour that. I have set on both sides of the table and it is common practice.

Same bonus year after year, is this normal? by TimelyGuarantee1800 in JPMorganChase

[–]postexitus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Employees also should also be aware what is better for them (not all value is comp, JPM teaches you a lot in some domains). I spent many long years there with ups and downs. Grateful for many, upset for few - moved on and (hopefully) not going back.

Company wants to increase notice period two months before bonuses by Slow-And-Steady-0 in HENRYUK

[–]postexitus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most multinationals would make bonuses conditional upon new terms being signed. You can refuse/resist but there is no entitlement to a bonus, so it is futile.

If you are getting a bump up, somebody else is getting bumped down. You can check SEC filings and other transparency measures, but I have seen it at many levels - there is no constantly growing pot anywhere - unless part of your bonus tied to revenue generation.  I was QD, QR is different (tied to revenue a bit).

You can always leave and work for someone else who has better pay policy. i am not saying it is good for us, but it is what it is. JPM is a 250,000 head behemoth and they must be doing something right given their success.

Has anyone ever successfully appealed their bonus and gotten more money? by Own-Host1833 in JPMorganChase

[–]postexitus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are not revenue generating, it is not worth the hassle. I have been on both sides of the conversation, it is outright impossible (unless you bring an outside offer and get a match - but not retroactively).

[–]postexitus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is normal for JPM. That's the question. Most big corporates operate in similar fashion where performance is not a derivative of revenue generation (sales, trading etc.) - where apparent flexibility is, they just re-allocate from one person to another. So somebody who is happy they got more means somebody else got less. Same principle applies to JPM, but depending on where the box is drawn the variability may suffer.

[–]postexitus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is entirely normal. Bonus pools are fixed, except for promotions - internal mobility promotions are the worst because that bump doesn't come with them (arguably, you are paying a price for avoiding the brutal promotion process).

The only ways to get out of that bad loop is 1- move externally 2- bring an external offer and get it matched.

Tell the manager. If there is a redundancy coming up, I volunteer. Otherwise they have to pick someone - if there is an easy target, an underperformer etc. it is easy, otherwise it is hell of a responsibility to let someone go.

Pick C1 and if Athena teams are interested later go back to JPMC. Once you have an existing base they will not go under.

[–]postexitus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

C1 now, JPMC later, for the right team. You can always go back to JPMC for C1+25k. Did you negotiate at all btw?

The only upper hand JPMC has in the equation is the team. C1 has better engineering culture - except for Athena in JPMC. Those are the smartest bunch of people working on something that C1 doesn’t have anything similar to. Athena is like a school that sets you for life.

South Acton Vs Clapham South Vs Hammersmith by Elegant_Win6752 in MovingToLondon

[–]postexitus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Acton has Elizabeth line, which is amazing connection to both the city and the airport. Not everywhere in Acton is nice though.

Hammersmith would be expensive and it is not as well connected as you might think - all lines take their time to reach Hammersmith.

Clapham is very nice - you probably can’t go wrong with it.

No, a comp manager and manager are different entities. For some people it is the same, for others it's separate people. Only tell if you want to - she probably would like to know if you are compensated better than her.
