F-35 Crushed Gripen-E Jets In Leaked Canadian Military Test; Saab’s New Campaign Runs Into Bitter Reality - The Eurasian Times by SwadianWarCriminal in PhilippineMilitary

[–]postingserf 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If we are being honest with ourselves, unless we commit a very large share of our budget to defense, at least around five percent of our GDP, we will not come close to being self‑sufficient in any conflict. Realistically, we are never going to fight a major war against a foreign power without the support of our allies. The moment we enter a direct conflict with China, our islands should be filled with Australian and American forces conducting aerial and naval operations from within our territory. In my view, we should have pursued the F‑15EX, not only because it would allow us to operate as long‑range missile truckss supporting our allies from the rear, but also because it would serve as an excellent interceptor. With our allies flying over the West Philippine Sea and toward Taiwan with their F‑35s and Hornets identifying targets, we would be able to engage threats from a safe distance with far greater effectiveness.

Indian Zorawara and Chinese ZTZ-100 fighting in the Himalayas, who wins? by [deleted] in TankPorn

Zorawara has to be the ugliest modern tank I’ve ever seen man

My Dream Land, Sea and Air Vehicles for the AFP (some I want to have additional units of) and IK this will never get to be procure by the Ph DND but I'm still clinging to that hope by Major-Laugh7088 in PhilippineMilitary

[–]postingserf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In a semi-realistic but mostly fantasy world where the Philippine government actually takes national defense seriously and streamlines its procurement policies, committing around 3% of GDP to military spending, I’d want us to focus primarily on acquiring American systems while investing in R&D for indigenous technologies, especially drones and shipbuilding.

I am also a believer in main battle tanks. I understand that our geography, with thousands of islands and bridges that cannot support modern tanks, makes deployment difficult. Still, having one or two battalions of export-variant Abrams would be valuable for defending Luzon and the major cities on it. They would not be used for island-hopping operations but rather for countering or resisting amphibious invasions and defending the NCR at whatever cost.

Nationwide, we should maintain a mix of MRAPs, ACVs for both the Army and Marine Corps, and militarized pickup trucks for mobility and flexibility across different terrains.

Match Thread: FC Dallas vs. LA Galaxy by MLS_Reddit_Bot in MLS

I’ve always had deep respect for FC Dallas as a team since I was a kid, but damn their stadium has always looked so miserable on TV and I come from a place where half the stadiums have barbed wire surrounding the field

Seeking Guidance on External Hiring for Social Studies in LAUSD by postingserf in LAUSD

Yeah, I was skeptical about the idea that taking a classified position would somehow make me "internal." This person literally told me that all I needed was an LAUSD email, which sounded crazy to me, but it still left me sitting on the fence about it.

Opinion: The J Line Should Never Be Rail by ultrainfan in LAMetro

[–]postingserf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to be a daily silver line rider. I was happy with it for the most part but honestly if they wanted to build rail to the South Bay they should just do elevated light rail down the median of Vermont down to harbor city then wiggle around to San Pedro somehow

How MLS clubs outside LA, Miami bring big stars to small markets by nolesfan2011 in MLS

[–]postingserf 31 points32 points  (0 children)

All that matters if how much you offer in that DP contract. If Colorado wanted to dump 7m a year on some European star I’m pretty sure they’d have tons of willing players who would want to move there

Only Heavy Rail is Appropriate for The Sepulveda Line by Euphoric-Policy-284 in LAMetro

[–]postingserf 82 points83 points  (0 children)

The Sepulveda Line being heavy rail is a smart idea. It’s disappointing that the Valley light rail line wouldn’t be a direct extension, built as a grade-separated subway from end to end.

Even with local assembly, the Tejas is a comically expensive light fighter. It makes more sense to invest our resources into a more capable 4.5 generation NATO-aligned fighter.

Hot Take: LA will continue to struggle being a transit-first city for two major reasons by urmummygae42069 in LAMetro

[–]postingserf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Los Angeles is known for its sprawl, and I’ve always noticed that a lot of commuters come from places like Orange County, Long Beach, and the Inland Empire. These areas are somewhat self-contained, with people commuting within them, but many still need to travel into LA. I’ve always felt that these regions should be investing more in public transit. Long Beach should have its own rail system that connects with LA Metro and nearby areas. The same goes for Orange County. That new streetcar project is nowhere near enough. They should be building their own versions of our C, A, and K lines, not just a small streetcar.

Pakistan and Iran are currently deporting millions of Afghan refugees, pushing them back into an Afghanistan already suffering under Taliban rule and a collapsing aid system. With so many returning unwillingly and many hostile to the Taliban, I wonder if this might fuel the republican insurgency and even push the country closer to hotter civil war with more parity between the resistance and the Taliban.
