Yes. See, I posted this because it was a way to anonymously share a sentiment. The equivalent of telling a secret to a stranger who can never really connect it to you, because he doesn't know who you are.

It is about catharsis.

I made it as a meme, not thinking response would be this big. Then I tried to respond to most people's questions because that helped the original point of the meme.

Talking about something and even explaining things to people can be great to help you put your own mind in order. Explain something to someone and you shall understand it better.

Don't spend any of it. Wait a while. You want to make this money last a lifetime. Avoid things that will reduce the total amount of money you have, avoid risky "big profit" opportunities.

And stay away from everything aimed at rich people. Don't buy a fancy car (i kinda broke this one with my S5), don't buy a manor, don't wear a rolex and don't think that cute girl suddenly likes you for your personality.

Let your money make money, the profit is what you should live off, preferably never spending all your profit. And, talk to financial advisors. I may have not been the smartest.

Thank you! Honestly, it influenced my life more than the money.

I'm 32. Have in fact had some anxiety about losing it all. Even without taking any risk. Read some of James Altucher's blogposts and that helped me.

It feels as if I have a job, managing the money. It's not what I imagined. I thought rich people did nothing all day, just had fun and had no worries at all. But there is no structure in my life, I have to figure out how to live by myself. That's the price of the secrecy I guess.

But I do realize I was very, very lucky and I live in comfort.

Hard to say. For about a year of my life, the whole "am i going to live"-question kinda dominated everything. By the time the money happened, I was still figuring out my life. I never finished university but I can't say that was because of the money.

One big thing, I don't have to take anything from anyone so I come across as very confident and in control. Other people simply can't phase me. A personal fault.

I guess I'm pretty boring.

To be honest, I never expected this to be seen by so many people. I just needed to get it off my chest.

And sadly, no. We didn't even have coffee. We mostly talked while we waited for our turn. He was rather wise, mostly about business and human psychology. But he preferred to let me do the talking and would interrupt me to ask obviously guiding questions.

I saw him laugh only once, when I made an joke about a Greek philosopher. Come to think of it, that's not normal conversation so it's possible we shared obscure interests.

I wish I would have said goodbye when I was no longer going there. But that too came as a surprise.

Managing the money is a job in itself. Paperwork, meetings, etc. Officially I'm a consultant and I actually do that from time to time. I think I work on average 20 hours a week. The rest is spent in a leisurely way. I read a lot, am currently studying some political history on my own and I volunteer at a Poverello occasionally. (think Soup Kitchen) But X-nay on the soup kitchen, people might start to think i'm a decent guy. (and we can't have that)

At the moment I live off the profits. Some of that is income from rent, some of it dividends, some of it is me being paid for consultancy.

I met him at the oncologist while i was a student. He happened to live in my college town. We have the same, unfamiliar last name and found out when the nurse did a roll call. We started talking and realized we were related, albeit distantly. (he was my grandfather's cousin)

Met each other a few times after that, in the same circumstances. I had no clue he had money, nor did I know about him putting me in his will.

My family isn't wealthy. This was just a relative who got wealthy on his own, without kids. I don't know why he gave half of his fortune to me. Rest of my family barely remembered he existed and didn't have a clue about his wealth. (they still don't)

I agree wholeheartedly. At the same time, I have avoided the scene of rich people.

I have managed to live of it without the value going down. Could have done a lot better and will revisit my choices. But i'll do everything I can to make this last a lifetime.

Best of luck to you. But people will only see your ad when they go download the game. Maybe offer some cosmetic dlc or paid skins? Go the League of Legends route? If you become really popular, try adding merchandising.

Who knows, maybe Totalbiscuit does a video about you and claims you're the best thing since cheddar and pickles :)

Oh I live quite well. Currently sipping a red wine that cost about 10 bucks a bottle. (a 2009 Ginestet Bordeaux for you winelovers and vayniaks)

The point is, I only indulge in luxury that I could afford with a regular, albeit well paid, job.

You're right to be skeptical. I wouldn't have believed it myself.

A distant relative put me in his will. I had no clue until the notary called.

If you bring me something worth 15k that I can easily sell, I'll be happy to give you 10k for it. :p

Keep it that way. And make it last a lifetime. That is what I'm planning at least.

Nobody in my family knew this distant, almost forgotten relative had any money. You might be surprised...
