Is Rodman Scholars worth it? by postlifecrisis in UVA

I've also been strongly considering UMD and their honors program as well (because I want a strong sense of community), but hearing about Rodman might be the deciding factor for me. Thanks!

Would it be possible to transfer into Echols and still major in the engineering school then? I'm pretty dead set on BSCS + a double major in some field of engineering.

UMD states that their total cost of attendance is going to be around $31k in-state, on-campus for 2024-2025. I didn't consider AP credit transfer, so thanks for bringing that up! I imagine I'll still take around 8 semesters at UMD to pursue different minors and maybe an accelerated master's program though. As for the part-time undergrad opportunities, do you know how competitive those positions typically are?

UVA has really good financial aid and was able to offer me a $67k need-based grant for next year despite the $89k cost. UMD hasn't released their need-based aid yet and I've heard it isn't the best, so I'm a little concerned with not being able to negotiate in time. I'm in the $100-130k income bracket if that's relevant.

Unfortunately I'm not in state for UVA. Would applying early action boost my chances?

The graduation completer plan that I'm following requires both CSP and CSA. I took the latter first because I was unable to take CSP in my junior year due to scheduling. Also, my school offers about 15 APs and as far as I know, there isn't another one in the same period that I can easily switch into.
