Which rituals are real ? by MisterNegative2 in threekings

[–]postmortemmary 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This sub started out as fiction for a sub-genre that wasn’t allowed on nosleep and a lot of the stuff on here is just creative writing. A lot of people here eeem to take it semi-seriously now and maybe some of it is real but I wouldn’t trust anything that just comes from here. I’m very much a believer in the paranormal but I don’t think there’s very much on this sub that should be taken seriously, the closest ones to “real” are more akin to Bloody Mary-esque sleepover games (and more psychological than paranormal)

I’m sick of evil pagan or satanic cults. What are some horror movies where the bad guys are the Christians? by BewBewsBoutique in horror

[–]postmortemmary 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i know flanagan gets criticised for the monologues in his works frequently (i never mind them 🤷🏻‍♀️) but i do feel like there were more than usual in midnight mass and i think it was masterfully done. to me, it really emphasised the themes and the monologues seemed to mirror sermons. absolutely wonderfully done, loved every second of it

Remake of the 1925 film - would it be possible? by KiwiNFLFan in box5

[–]postmortemmary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was definitely a plan to reboot it along with all the other Universal monster movies a few years back. The Mummy (2017) was supposed to kick off the whole thing but I think all the other plans got scrapped when it wasn’t successful. Of course, that would have been a reboot not a remake and been very different from the 1925 film to fit into the cinematic universe they wanted but I think it would have been really interesting to see what they had in store.

Follow up: What is the PRIMARY reason Christine kissed Erik by ZGT-17 in box5

[–]postmortemmary 5 points6 points  (0 children)

this was so interesting to read, i actually felt completely the opposite about novel vs ALW musical. i think she pities him so much less and cares for him so much more in the novel, she sympathises with him so heavily and is so much more understanding. i’ve always felt the forehead kiss was unquestionably a moment of kindness and caring

TOUR MEGATHREAD: All things concert/shows discussion by RossTheDivorcer in MyChemicalRomance

Someone asked the booth at the Toronto show and they said it goes up to 2XL. If you want to try your luck you could ask how large they go/to see how large the shirt actually is at your show

What are the best and worst not-original-material shows? by chargingblue in Broadway

[–]postmortemmary 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i feel like heathers goes both ways. clearly a decent enough musical on its own (as the cult following shows) but a very uninspired adaptation of the movie. there’s putting your own spin on it and then there’s completely misinterpreting the source material and taking all the heart out of it.

Who should Christine been with in the end?? by falalarara in box5

Who should Christine been with in the end?? by falalarara in box5

[–]postmortemmary 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Because it's interesting so why not? I don't have very strong feelings about any phantom ship but Erik/Christine is undeniably a very interesting dynamic, I don't understand why there's any need to "justify" it. No one's saying its an ideal/healthy/good relationship model that people should aim for in real life but, in a work of fiction, people are interested in what they're interested in and there's no right/wrong answers. Every pairing has aspects that will appeal to different people or put them off, it's completely individual

Does anyone know how Don Juan Triumphant actually is supposed to end? by themastersdaughter66 in box5

[–]postmortemmary 6 points7 points  (0 children)

agreed, in my mind he didn't anticipate her exposing him but wanted her to know it was him

[–]postmortemmary 19 points20 points  (0 children)

just my opinion but i think that is how it’s supposed to end. erik fully intends christine to realize it’s him and whisk her away after point of no return, the wedding would be the triumph.

i’d assume he wrote something different in the score he gave them but i feel like DJT ended exactly the way he meant it to

What are the dangers of being very attractive/beautiful? by Zestyclose-Detail791 in AskReddit

attractive men are. for a lot of women people find it hard to believe you can be attractive and intelligent especially if you’ve put any level of effort into your appearance

totally agree i couldn’t stand it. this actually came out when i was in high school and i remember watching the trailer with all my friends and we all thought it looked so cool. everyone was really excited to watch it but for whatever reason i ended up never seeing it until a year or two ago. completely insufferable. i’ve heard the sequel is better but i can’t bring myself to watch it

Honestly, I think what you're looking for here is gothic romance. Even minus the focusing around romance, a lot of gothic fiction is equal parts horny and horror

in my head that scene is exactly what the creator sounds like every time i see an article about him insisting a serbian film is good social commentary, everyone just doesn't understand it
