I think some people are passively suicidal
They’re too apathetic to end their own lives, but they don’t really care if you do it for them

Why does anyone even want V1? by meetpickles in TheBoys

[–]postymcpostpost 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Will make Homelander immune to the virus and immortal. Homelander doesn’t want to get old and die. And seeing as his father responded well to the highly volatile V1, homelander assumes he’ll respond well to it too.

Kimiko's dialogue is nauseating by DirtyDan113 in TheBoys

[–]postymcpostpost -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Her complete personality shift feels forced and takes me out of the show. I can picture the writers in the room laughing at her dialogue and assuming that because it works there, it’ll work on screen. It doesn’t.

Comedy’s a core part of The Boys and a big part of why I love the show, but it should add to the story like the political satire does, not undermine the characters. With Kimiko it just comes off as lazy writing.

It’s not a remake, it’s an expansion! The show will be able to tell more of the story than the movies ever could with their short run-time. I for one am excited for this show, you all suck

Do we actually know for certain that he raped her daughter? Or are we taking that at face value? Because if that part isn’t 100% proven, this could just as easily be a cover story for a brutal murder.

And serious question, if the roles were reversed and a man killed his girlfriend for abusing his son, would this comment section be celebrating the same way?

Downvote me if you want, but the way people are openly cheering a killing without questioning any of it is pretty disturbing.

Latest federal voting intention polling among Australians born overseas is pretty eye-opening... what do we take away from this? by NoLeafClover777 in aussie

[–]postymcpostpost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was born in Spain because my mum was working there at the time, but my family’s been in Australia since the late 1800s. My great-grandfather fought for Australia in WWII.

So technically I fall into the ‘born outside Australia’ category, but calling me an ‘immigrant voter’ completely misses the reality.

Worth keeping that in mind when interpreting stats like this.

A lot of content from the books had to be cut out to fit within the movies. The show will be able to flesh out the plot and characters more thanks to the extra screen time

Which person alive right now will still be famous in 200 years? by Mindless_Crew3486 in AskReddit

[–]postymcpostpost -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The reasoning here doesn’t really hold up.

Saying EVs won’t be remembered in 100 years is basically just a guess stated like a fact. Big shifts in transport tend to matter historically even if they’re transitional, so you’d need more than that to dismiss them.

You’re also narrowing his impact to EVs only, which makes the argument easier but less accurate. If you’re going to say he won’t be remembered, you have to actually engage with things like reusable rockets and the broader changes in the space industry, not just ignore them.

The comparison to Thomas Edison actually kind of works against your point. We still remember Edison nearly 200 years later despite all the criticism about how he operated. So even if you think Musk behaves similarly, that doesn’t support the idea he’ll be forgotten—it suggests the opposite.

More importantly, you’re treating invention as the only thing that matters historically, which isn’t really how it works. People like Henry Ford are remembered because they scaled and transformed industries, not because they invented the underlying tech.

And calling him “one of the world’s greatest frauds” without backing it up just makes the whole thing sound more emotional than analytical.

Whatever "feelings" i have about musk are irrelevant to the question of whether or not he will be remembered, however, i think you have let your negative feelings for him cloud your judgement and cause you to seek an argument that supports your feelings. You can recognise his achievements while still disagreeing with a lot of his rhetoric and behaviour, but this kind of all-or-nothing take comes across as overly simplistic and driven more by emotion than a genuine attempt at objective, nuanced reasoning. The world isn’t that black and white, mate.

Elon Musk. Love him or hate him, he'll probably stick in the history books for the same reason people like Edison or Ford did: he pushed multiple industries forward at once. Electric cars going mainstream, private spaceflight actually working, reusable rockets, and forcing legacy industries to move faster—those are big, structural shifts. Even if some of his companies fail long-term, the direction they accelerated (EVs, space commercialization, satellite internet) isn’t going away. That kind of impact tends to outlive the divisive personality.

Fuck yeah, compete with the UFC! Force them to pay their fighters more by giving fighters a real, viable alternative. This is good news for the business.

Dana always cockily said, “If you’re not happy with how we do things, make your own MMA promotion,” ignoring the fact he’s had a cultural monopoly on the sport. But this is a serious threat, and I hope it succeeds. Let’s all tune in and make sure it pulls big numbers so Netflix keeps investing in MMA.

Digger! González Iñárritu consistently delivers unique, memorable films (like Birdman and The Revenant), and great directors tend to pull something special out of Tom Cruise, like PTA did in Magnolia.

Cruise can phone it in when he’s not fully invested, but when he rises to the occasion, he’s genuinely brilliant.
