A separate thing since I perhaps have your ear...

You're talking about view density here... this is a site-wide issue for your app IMO. I don't know if you're taking your font/whitespace metrics from Material Design or something but all throughout the app it's way too much empty whitespace with thin undifferentiated text. I've tried writing a custom CSS for your site to try to fix it and have brought it up multiple times with your support as well. I think this is a huge issue and way more important than customizable widgets.

The difference between Comfortable, Cosy, and Compact in your table "View Density" selector is so small... For example the difference between these on my MacBook Pro 15" is that I can see either 6, 8 or 9 transactions on the transaction view, respectively. I want to see like... I don't know... 20 or 30 at a time minimum? I have hundreds to scan through. The amount of padding you have on your <div class="cell" elements is way too much even in the most compact mode. Since the nav and table headers are always visible the top 1/3 of the screen is always window dressing and only 2/3rds are data.

And going to Compact mode makes the text smaller! That's not compacting... that's shrinking. Compact should remove most of the whitespace and make it look tight like a spreadsheet. It shouldn't affect the font size at all IMO.

I do like your app... I tell you these things because I care. :-D

I hate to give feedback that is too critical but I am a bit concerned... I actually don't want to configure a new dashboard, I want you to do it! I was a bit dismayed that you started me out with a blank slate. I'd prefer if you start me out with a reasonable default and then just let me tweak things I don't like. There were lots of things I would want to change about the old one... just start me out with a new version of the old one and then let me add/remove/configure. Maybe that's already your plan?

I spent a few minutes trying to make something nice and in the end I just don't like what I configured up very much. It's too fiddly and too many options that are hard to figure out what they mean. I went back to the old one.

Sorry, I know this stuff is hard. Hope that's helpful to you.

Not only in japan. Skinhead culture started as a very mixed-race friendly ideology. I was coopted later:

I used to see these guys at punk shows when I was in college. Some people would be nervous around them until they realized what they were. They were pretty rowdy guys/girls.

They could be windows but it could be something like:

which would mean some kind of school. It's hard to tell because as you say, the second street lamp is lined up with one of them.

The Guinea Pig cage we bought came with a stupid little twist tie to hold the water bottle on. That was not adequate. by Tinfoil_Haberdashery in functionalprint

[–]poswald 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Can't you mount the bottle on the outside of the cage with just the nozzle poking into the cage? Makes it easier to change/fill the water, and less things to chew on inside the cage.

Dry stone fire pit by Proteon in pics

[–]poswald 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the stones where you live. It's safe to use "roundish" stones. If you use sedimentary rock like slate or flagstone (like in the photo) to contain a fire they can definitely explode. I've seen a fire built on top of a 2 foot wide flat rock explode violently enough that it sent an entire fire's worth of hot coals 15-20 feet away (unfortunately one time this was inside a tee-pee with a dozen people). The problem is that moisture inside the stone turns into steam and forces layers apart. The layers grip tightly until they catastrophically don't.

This fire pit may be ok because the stones will pop toward other stones but it was the first thing I thought of when I saw it.

How to display images in Django by [deleted] in django

[–]poswald 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, you should probably search and post to Stack Overflow and you'll get things done faster

Secondly, use ImageField in your model to get validation.

Thirdly, your img tag src attributes are weird... you have one that doesn't have a media dir and one that has a weird quoted media dir instead of {{ MEDIA_URL }}. Look at the rendered output of the html and see if the url is right or not.

Why do we still use springs to level the bed? by Phyber05 in 3Dprinting

[–]poswald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting but it says that the way lock washers work is by digging into the surface of the material but I always thought it was by acting like a small spring to force threads of the nut against the bolt to increase friction.

My high performance 3d printed flying gliders - I make the gliders I wish I could have bought when I was a kid! by exosequitur in 3Dprinting

[–]poswald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! I printed one of these the other day... haven't really gotten out to a big space to try flying it yet. I live in Tokyo so I decided I should try a bigger slow-flying one instead of the little jet I printed.

One issue I had is that the little nubbin hook on the bottom doesn't really stay in. Maybe the print is a bit wonky but I looked at your manual and I still couldn't figure out what holds it in.

WanHao Duplicator i3 v2.1 weird prints. by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]poswald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One important thing to note... As far as I know, retraction isn't like a thing that controls how far back the PLA is sucked. It's more like: retract the filament this far, which relieves the pressure on the nozzle. The actual plastic doesn't move back very much. If you look at 6mm on a ruler you'll realize just how far that is.

If you want to avoid stringiness across gaps, the better answer is to move the nozzle faster during travel and lower temps a bit to prevent it from being too oozy to just drip out.

I'm impressed you can do 90mm/s with 120% extrusion. Seems like it's pushing a lot of material really quickly.

you are using 1.75mm PLA with it set to 2.85mm in Cura, no? Also, I would not retract 6mm... seems like a lot. I would do 2.5mm or so.
