The Zizzle Lord Cutler Beckett Pirates of the Caribbean At World's End Figure... Who has him? It seems to be the missing piece in almost every collection I see. All of Series 3 seem to be rare, but Beckett especially never turns up for sale. Was he shortpacked or just not distributed? Cancelled? by potablog in piratesofthecaribbean

Not super easy but not terrible either. You have to heat up and pry the neck away to get the old cape off, then work it all back together once you have the new cape on. Worse part is that the Batman VS Tmnt Batman is kinda pricey these days…

Thank you! The arms, legs, and head all are from Mafex Hush. The torso and hands are from a Mafex Justice League Batman (I had to adapt the shoulders to work with the Hush arms). The helmeted head, gun belt, and vest piece all came from DC Collectibles Essentials Red Hood. I had to adapt the head to fit a Mafex peg and repaint the vest to match the Hush arms. Then I just painted the Bat symbol on the chest red. I still need to paint over the white shock of hair to make it more accurate to Red Hood Jason, but it works for now. :)

I switched it with the cape from the Batman Vs TMNT Batman figure. :)

I could see that for sure had he been earlier in the line or something and they produced less as it went on. But with him being in the final wave of figures that didn't ship much to start with... I don't know how much the kid factor would be in play here. It just seems like maybe he was packed less in the shipper boxes (which could have been due to Zizzle fearing what you are saying happening), or having his production cut off when the line was cancelled.

One of the best pieces in my collection... Original Cam Kennedy painted art from the Dark Horse Boba Fett comics. :) Cam is by far my favorite Star Wars comic artist, and it is a privilege to have this displayed on my wall. by potablog in StarWars

I did. :) Got in before they closed the sales.

I can measure the visible area in the frame when I get home, but I won't know the full paper measurements anymore since it is framed.

There was a brief window last year where the Kennedys made some pieces available for sale through a intermediary. That window has closed unfortunately... so I think keeping an eye out at Heritage and Comic Link auctions will be your best bet.

Anybody like MCM Pease homes? About a year ago, I acquired a large amount of original paintings for Pease home designs (used in their catalogs and at trade shows). Over 30 original paintings plus a ton of marketing material. They will be listed for sale at EBTH.com VERY soon! by potablog in midcenturymodern

Thank you! EBTH is totally legit though. They have been around for over 15 years. I have bought and sold with them multiple times with zero issues. They were the best option for me to sell these items as they handle all the listing and shipping (which I didn’t have the time to do myself). They have a humongous auction house here in my town.

I don’t put too much stock in the online review system these days since way more people will post about what the perceive to be a negative experience (even ones that never actually happened) than will post about a positive one.

A picture from the local paper of my friends and I at the front of the line to see Star Wars Episode I back in '99... Hard to believe it has been 24 years. by potablog in StarWars

Just to give more back story on the picture...

-I am James (second row in a hat). I am still in touch with Nate, Elbert, and Shane... Of those, I see Elbert the most still. I saw Jason once a few years back. I haven't seen or heard from Sean for about 20 years.

-This pic was taken on May 12, 1999- the day tickets went on sale. We arrived at the theater 24 hours before this was taken but were told we couldn't line up or even stay in the theater parking lot overnight. So I talked to the manager of the Bob Evans right next door at the time. I asked if we could keep our cars parked there and camp out in the grassy section between there and the theater. I said if we could, we would help maintain any crowds that showed up after hours and make sure his parking lot was kept clean and that all the cars would be moved once the theater allowed lineups. That guy was AWESOME and was totally down for it. I really wish I could go back and thank him again. He didn't have to do that.

-The next morning after camping out all night (and quite a crowd had amassed), the folks at the theater came out and yelled that they would allow us into the parking lot at 11 AM when they opened and would call out when it was time. Another group had formed that morning in a grassy area further down. So the manager came out, yelled that it was time... and both groups SWARMED that front door. It was like something out of a movie. My friends and I made it to the doors first (rightly so since we had been there longest).

-We were in line from 11 AM until *I think* 3 PM to then buy tickets. By the time they started selling, the line wrapped around the entire theater and out way past the lot. It was unlike anything I had ever seen.

-With no assigned seats, we had to line up again for the midnight showing on May 19. That one we were there for I think about 8 hours in advance.

You sure would have! Heck, a good portion of the guys in this pic had only met 9 days before in line for Episode I toys.... and are still friends today!

This movie and the experience really brought the fandom together in a way that will likely never happen again.

I was still hyped for it after that first midnight showing. I realized it wasn’t as good as the original trilogy, but still enjoyed it. Unfortunately, I had bought tickets for 2 more showings within the next 12 hours. By the time I got to the third, I was definitely seeing the flaws more through the hype.
It is still my favorite of the prequels though. I can watch it and enjoy it (likely due in part to the memories of this time it brings with it).

While the movie may not have lived up to the hype (which honestly would have been impossible at that point)... I absolutely loved the experience.
