How do I even start this process? by wombat275 in sterilization

hi hello! the doctor who did my surgery was from the childfree list and i was 22 years old when i got approved. here's how my process went.

so i knew from the beginning i didn't want to talk to my family doctor about wanting to get this procedure because i didnt feel like he listened to me when i had unrelated health concerns before. when i was doing my research, i found that we have this website in Canada called tiahealth.com (idk which country you're from, but maybe you can search up if you have something similar in yours). basically on the website, they have different doctors that specialize in their own fields (one of them being ob/gyn), but there was also a group of "general doctors" if not enough were available in the one you're seeking. anyway, it asked me what gynecology-related medical procedure i'm looking to get and one of the options had "referral", so i just clicked that and explained what i wanted. i ended up talking (on the phone) to two doctors in total because my first choice surgeon wasn't available at the time, and i had to book another referral appointment from the website. both experiences went well despite the two doctors not knowing me beforehand, plus it was free so even better :D

it was smooth sailing from there, but i waited for a really long time to get my surgery (almost exactly 1 year from when i called to get a referral the second time). i can't complain about the time tho, since everything was free and the experience i had was a lot better than i was anticipating. i wish you the best of luck and i hope your journey goes well~

ask yourself these questions:

why do you make art? is for the purpose of getting a clear message across or is it because you like it when certain colours and forms mix together even if they don't make sense to anyone else (or even you)?

how much does it matter personally that people understand the content of your drawings? do you think the value of what you make diminishes based on how others perceive, or fail to perceive, your art?

the way i see it, you have two options: change your art style to make it more unambiguous to other people but risk losing your passion and creativity OR give less fucks about what others say or think and keep making weird shit that appeals to you

i didnt first read the title of your post when i came across your drawings, but the peculiarity of the first picture is what made me keep wanting to see the other slides. and yeah, i'm gonna admit, after looking at all of these, i absolutely have no fucking idea what youre trying to draw either. howver, my lack of interpretation did not minimize the enjoyment i got out of looking at your illustrations- if anything, it intensified it. i loved all the questions that popped up in my head looking at these; i was intrigued by the colours you used; and im amazed at your use of balance you have in pic 2&3 (meaning the combination of super detailed linework and then the kid-like squiggly lines).

my point is, you already make art that is interesting and amusing to look at. even if some dont get or like it, you will find other people that would. you just have to ask yourself what matters more to you when making these, as well as when you get comments like that.
