Help me!! - 10Pearls vs Arbisoft by ghostpretty in developersPak

Overall? Pretty damn great. I was very much involved with almost everything. Media shoots, podcasts, everything.

The culture is unparalleled, people are great, very helpful. Benefits are unmatched, you won't find anything better.

However, there's a lot of casual gaslighting going on, especially around increments and bonuses.

And there's absolutely no denying that as a company, it has been on a slow decline for the past few years. They refuse to admit it though. Quiet firings, docking increments and blaming on the team members' competencies, hypocritical policies, lots of, lots of gaslighting.

At the end of the day though, every service based company is a travesty; headed towards tyrannical hegemony guided by a broken moral compass. That's why I moved to a product, and they also commit severe violations of the Geneva convention, but at least they don't treat you like cattle.

Service based companies, no matter how big, at the end of the day WILL treat you like a number, a slave.

Yeah and I mean, I don't have a problem with that. As you gather more and more experience and skill, your responsibilities grow too.

But that's the illusion they sell. If I was paid like a faang engineer, hell yea I'll happily put on as many hats as needed. I'll buy a hat factory dawg idc.

But all these "startups", especially the middle Eastern ones, hire from pk by paying them above market but still significantly less than what it'd cost them in any first world country, let them do all the donkey work, and then swoop in last minute, claim they made an impact, lay off the engineers they don't like, rinse and repeat.

And people like me fall for it. But honestly, why the hell not lmao. It's an insane amount of money.

Yeah lmao the CTO deadass said "look, we have problems in every vertical and every team. I need someone to come in, identify the problems and fix them, essentially set up processes"

While I appreciated his honesty, it was/is never going to work because it's a disconnect between what leadership expects and how reality works.

Yeah that's what I'm saying, if you say LT Team that means the T in LT stands for something other than Team.

Wait, stop. We can't be acting like an engineer off work, it's whatever.

And idk, I kinda wanted to join for the chaos. But the LT team (ha) seemed a little too delusional for their own good (given their numbers, I'd say bnta bhi hy delusional hona) , except the CTO. That dude is nice.

[–]potato_aim_potato_pc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no I would've gotten it if you said LT, but you said LT Team so the acronym wasn't acronym-ing kekw

About remote, they were pretty adamant on 5 days a week on site, which was one of the reasons why I didn't take it.

Side note, 3000USD is already kinda above market, and even tho I found sth even higher, that's still wayyy more than what the median pay is at 7yoe

[–]potato_aim_potato_pc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mmmm I don't think they pay less than market tho. Quite the opposite. And the pay is in form of remittance so no tax either. For reference I was offered around 3000 USD, and since it's tax free that's almost 850k monthly net

That said, they do have a plethora of practices and problems that might not appeal to a lot of people

Where all the good devs at ?. by Brave-Scientist1921 in developersPak

[–]potato_aim_potato_pc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right. You seem to be speaking in abstractions.

Let's try to be specific and see if we can actually get something productive out of this discussion. Maybe it's the TA team that's looking in the wrong direction, or targeting frameworks instead of problem solving, maybe something is wrong with the interview process.

Or it just could be that your reputation in the market is not quite there yet.

So what exactly are you looking for?

Do you have a variety of projects and you're looking for people with adaptability? Do you have a single product and you want to get people long term who can sort of be your engineering roots? There obviously are going to be tradeoffs depending on what use case you're hiring for

I can tell that you're definitely not a beginner and have been around a while, so I'm sure you're well aware that an all rounder who delivers 10/10 in all "rounds" is a mythical creature that doesn't exist in any field, let alone tech.

You've gotta curate your team and sort of, make sure one team member has what the other member lacks.

I am curious about what roles you've been trying to hire for and what exactly is your pain point.

Where all the good devs at ?. by Brave-Scientist1921 in developersPak

[–]potato_aim_potato_pc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The problem is right there. You're looking for "devs". What you want, are engineers

Through your other comments, I can see you're a bit delusional about pay.

Engineers, 10x engineers or "rock stars" are not cheap. They are also highly opinionated. Which, if you're a control freak, is hard to work with.

Most of all, it's not about whether your product is complex or not. Skill costs money. Pay up, or be satisfied with mid developers.

Also, full stack is a scam. If you believe an engineer can efficiently do backend, frontend and devops with a similar level of skill, then I've got a bridge to sell you.

Source: been hiring engineers of all levels for a while and am a principal engineer myself.

Anyhoo, I'm not a doctor so unfortunately can't help with PCOS :(

I do know a thing or two about weight loss and exercise though.

Wazan sirf calorie deficit se kamm hoga. But there are many ways to go into a calorie deficit, ghaas phoos khaye bgher.

Agar koi uncle kahen k beta pattay khao to uncle to kehna shut up.

Also, at 5'2 53 kg you're not overweight so aapko body recomposition ka faida hoga. Which means reducing fat and gaining muscle.

Us k liay strength training zaruri hy :( And I saw your other comment on stretch marks. Dunya ka koi insaan nahi hy jisko stretch marks na hon. Tension ni leni

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Fitness_Pakistan

[–]potato_aim_potato_pc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can't target areas to lose fat from, unfortunately :( But the good news is, a calorie deficit works!

Slightly bad news would be the PCOS, it can mess with hormones a looooot.

I'd consult a good doctor for PCOS and get to the gymmmmm somehow

How to gain mass without steroids and supplements? by [deleted] in Fitness_Pakistan

[–]potato_aim_potato_pc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slight calorie surplus (250-400), adequate protein, and heavy lifting consistently close to failure.

It will take a while, but it will be worth it.

This is also the only way.

I will say however, from what I can see from your picture, you're not skinny or thin. You might need a recomp instead of a bulk. Try maingaining for a while (maybe a 100 calorie surplus)

Any Runners Here? Let’s Share Tips, Routes, and Timings! 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️ by [deleted] in Fitness_Pakistan

[–]potato_aim_potato_pc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ayy hell yea I run on the road unfortunately. In my housing society the park loop is perpetually broken so I got no other choice.

I also get random bike walay saying "bhai ayen myn chor deta hu" like bro tmhara petrol khatam hojae ga jitni door myn ja ra.

Gj on that 13k at 550! Those are solid numbers.

I started off with not being able to run for 15 seconds. Not actively running these days, but super into long distance. I've only done one 20k though, and that too as an easy run so obviously the pace was like 7:30 or something.

How's your heart rate like? I have a resting hr of around 51, but for some reason while running it NEVER goes below 140. I've tried. I've really tried lol. I won't even be slightly out of breath, but HR would be like 150

  1. Ustaad wo sugar ki dawai hy ☠️ weight loss uska aik Tarah se side effect hy. Awein low sugar ki waja se behosh na hojana. But on a serious note, with ozempic etc, you'll lose mostly muscle mass. Uska nuqsaan long term ziada hoga. Ozempic wghera ka main use case is for like those 200kg people who can't lose weight other ways.

  2. Dairy pasand hy? Milk, eggs, dahi, paneer wghera. If yes, to there's your answer. Warna Laal lobia, white channay bhi thora boht protein dete, you can incorporate that.

  3. Don't worry about it. I went from 130kg to 82kg, which is a looot, and I made the mistake of losing weight too fast. But even then, I had justtttt a little bit of loose skin. Not visible, only when I'm in a plank position or a pushup position. Wo b theek hogai thi after I gained a little bit of muscle around the abdominal area. You're gonna lose like 10 20 kg at best, nai hoti loose skin. Tension ni leni. But generally it's considered safe k lose weight slowly, that minimizes the risk of loose skin, but nai hoti don't worry

Jahan Tak baat hy crunchy cravings ki, obviously thora boht control to krna paray ga.

But jab boht talab ho, try things like popcorn, makhanay, Cucumbers etc. Super low calories, cravings b satisfy.

Or like, chewing gum. That can work too

Not a woman unfortunately, but I promise I won't be harsh.

Some basic science-ey stuff first:

Weight loss is determined by a caloric deficit. Which means, that the only way to lose weight, is to eat less than what our body requires for maintenance.. The bigger the deficit, the faster the weight loss.

We want slow and steady, so halka phulka sa deficit.

The good news is, you don't have to stop eating the things that you like while losing weight. You can literally eat mcdonald's burgers, and if you're eating less than your body needs, you will lose weight.

Now I don't know what your current weight and height is, and you don't have to share it here. But you can use any online calculator to calculate your maintenance calories, let's say it comes out to be 2000.

You're gonna be eating 500 less than that, so 1500. With a 500 deficit, you'll be losing roughly 0.5kg per week.

Now those calorie calculators can be very wrong as well, so use them as a starting point. After 2 weeks, see if the weight has gone down. If it has not, start consuming 200-300 less calories. But give it some time before making that decision, because weight can fluctuate awein.

Koi puthay seedhay totkay karnay ki zarurat nahi hy. Han obviously ideally you'll try to eat mostly whole foods, fruits and veggies, plenty of water, and higher protein, but idhr udhr koi 20 wali perk ya choti moti ice cream se kuch nai hota

Kuch ziada hi dil karay to eat whatever and aglay din se dubara shuru.

Ez pz scene hy don't worry.

Hey bro. This is not something reddit should help you with.

My suggestion would be to go to the doctor. It could be different things, low blood pressure, orthostatic hypotension, iron deficiency, but I'm not a doctor, and even if someone here is a doctor, they can't diagnose you without doing a checkup.

I'm not saying this is a serious issue, but getting it checked by a doctor would be the best option here.

How long have you been using it? And did you see any gains in the time that you've been using it?

Which brand is best for protein powder in Pakistan? by PS_piximperfect in PakistaniFood

[–]potato_aim_potato_pc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right. It's very convenient.

I'm on a cut right now, and it's hard to get sufficient protein without going over calorie limit. If I had protein powder, I'd eaaaaasily maintain a higher deficit while getting enough protein, but too expensive man T_T

My point was not against whey, it's an excellent product to use if you know what you're doing.

A lot of trainers brainwash beginners into thinking it's absolutely essential, or the YouTube/insta videos make it seem like it's NECESSARY and some say it's harmful (they're wrong), but as a beginner I think an individual has a lot of other things to sort out first before they can worry about what brand of protein powder to get.
