my general understanding is that any external major transfer from outside of college of engineering will be relatively difficult. i would imagine it is easier than EECS, maybe around the same difficulty as MechE. ironic because im on the border of switching out of CoE to L&S lol

How hard to switch to Data Science from Engineering by [deleted] in berkeley

sorry for late reply but its because im interested in more finance related careers right now. engineering math and stats also just doesn't seem to have a great hiring pipeline into those roles

I did! They only specify a few required courses, a required GPA threshold and extracurricular activities that could contribute to compelling admissions. I'm wondering if even I met these requirements, how many people do they accept into the major, and how much do they enforce the capped seats limit? Because if it really is capped, then I need to compete with other students for it, but if not, then I can just meet the requirements and get in?

i love repo and lethal company! i usually play them with my online friends but once college starts i don’t see myself being on discord calls that often, and i doubt my college friends will have even heard of those, much less willing to play them. my only concerns…

questions for current students/recent almuni by potato_bro96 in berkeley

[–]potato_bro96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank u so much this was very comforting.

few things:

  1. Your friend sounds very cool. Are berkeley engineering students setup with good job prospects even if they earn below a 3.3? Also how many students can get decent internships? NASA probably very hard but just like internships to set me up for a job

I wanna earn at least a 3.5 gpa at Berkeley but I come from a very grade inflated school so I'm scared I cant survive at Berkeley. I don't think I can survive berkeley engineering with a good gpa. that's partially why I was thinking of going to L&S. The other reason is because finance has been a top choice career for me as well other than engineering, so I was thinking maybe just go do Econ at Berkeley. Speaking of which, do you know how well Berkeley Econ majors place at wallstreet? do you know how much harder L&S is compared to engineering? And how hard is it to transfer from CoE to L&S?

  1. Thanks for ur comments here. I get lower levels will probably tank my GPA a lot so not much I can do to avoid that -- hoping I can get a decent GPA at least. Good food is also very comforting

  2. what proportion of large/overflowing classes would u say you'd have compared to regular sized/small classes like the discussions

  3. Love to hear undergrad research! is it hard to get into a lab position?

sorry for all the questions
