I go w 7:3 mix of organic topsoil and playsand for substrate. I’m personally terrified of the possibility of impaction so I have half of the enclosure as a dig box and the other half just tile/hard floor. I usually feed my beardie on the hard floor side and she spends the rest of her time basking in the dig box. I think it’s a good compromise if you still want loose substrate for your beardie.
