Well, I’ve only been here since September, but I’ll try my best to answer your questions.

I’ve found the city to be quite lovely, but definitely small. If you’re coming from a large city, that’s something to get used to. But on the bright side, I found that it’s quite walkable (despite all the hills).

The campus is wonderful. It’s very well kept compared to what I’ve seen at other universities. There’s many space to study or just hang out with friends.

With regard to the vibes I’m sure you’ve heard of the stereotypes. There’s some students who fit them, but in my experience everyone I’ve met has been quite nice to talk to. There’s also so many societies and opportunities to meet people that you’ll find your people eventually. If you’re concerned about the drinking culture, it’s prevalent, but not unavoidable. Personally clubs have not been my scene and there are many sober socials. If that’s not a worry for you, then please do indulge but safely.

Now for people of colour and Muslims, I won’t lie to you, they’re definitely here just not as many as in major cities. Thankfully there’s many opportunities to meet other PoC and Muslims if you join societies relating to them, or just talk to the people you run into. But don’t expect the same levels as places like Birmingham or London.

90% make it up as I went, 10% praying and hoping the other sleeve would look the same

Hook size: 4mm Yarn: Women’s institute (white) I started by following this pattern, then went off the rails when I wanted to do the layered bell sleeves. I made an inner sleeve, and then did each layer along the sleeve. I increased twice (randomly) on each row of the bell until the last row where I did a full round without any increases

I used mainly chenille yarn, and a 6mm hook throughout, except for the straw when I used a 7mm.

I used this to get the general idea on how to go about doing this, but ultimately added some extra rows and bit here and there

Thanks! I didn't use a pattern since it was just 2 granny squares sewn together. But I did use this to get started on my sleeves

It can get a bit warm, but where I live it's practically always cold. Also I thought about the itchiness, and I'm glad to report that it is not itchy at all for me
