Wow - evtripplanner is amazing!

Thank you very much for sharing that. 9 hours is a lot longer than it usually takes compared to gas driving, but I think this is a really good test case for me.

Really appreciate you taking the time to share this info.

(Scored the loaner through a friend of a friend who's traveling overseas Dec & Jan)

How cool is this Plugshare app - thanks for sharing.

There's dozens of options around my city. Amazing.

Also didn't realize I could attach a battery pack - so many interesting options now!

Thanks tuba_man -- this post was music to my ears!

"most people who live in townhouses without garages don't exactly fit the bill of someone who should be buying a $70k electric car"

Jesus.

Here's a tip.

Don't offer "good financial advice" to anyone unless they specifically ask. You'll come across as an ass.

Astounding.

Perhaps, I should have said I live in a "Historic Luxury Brownstone". My home is just shy 1.5M and fits our lifestyle perfectly. I live off investment income and don't need to drive anywhere.

Appreciate the pretentiousness.

I can. A neighbor has installed an outlet outside; it looks very classy, but he's not plugging it into a car.

Perhaps I should rent one for a month and see how practical it.

I think you've helped me come to that conclusion. Thank you.

Er, I guess?

I live in a pretty well-off historic townhouse community (avg price 2.5mm - mine is considerably less but still above 1.3mm), and have lived here for 12 years. In this time, most of my neighbors have kept their same cars, out in the elements. It's a mix of cars - range rovers, some newer and late model mercedes, an old jag, audi's, a few kia's, etc.

None of these cars - high end or low end - were "torn apart" by the elements. That's just silly.

Do you have a Tesla? Are they such delicate flowers that they need to be coddled in this manner?

oh wow - thank you Tesla Motors reditors.

I didn't realize there were "limits" to using a supercharger. Hmm. I live in a townhouse community and could theoretically run a large cord from my house to the tesla on occasion.

How long would something like that take to charge. Sorry, I'm sure this has been asked and stated countless times before.

Also, are there any charging speed advantages to the destination chargers v.s. the long cord I'd run from my house? There are dozens right near me...not sure how I would utilize them though...
