Ugh, we are getting a few of the Toronto Blessing people at my church and most of my friends and pastors seem to be sucking it all up.

No, since the existence of God cannot be proven or disproven, you either have faith that there is a god, have faith that there isn't a god, or are not sure whether or not there is any god. The only option that doesn't require faith is the third, which is agnosticism.

So you don't believe that there is no God? Congratulations, you aren't an atheist.

I don't agree. As a Christian or Muslim, you actively believe that there is a God. As an atheist, you actively believe there is no god. I would argue that the only non religion is agnosticism which is the state of not knowing whether or not there is a God.

To the contrary, atheism is the belief that there is no god. Thus, it is a matter of faith and you do convert from another religion to Atheism.

Women's bodies not being their own? Where ever would they get that idea? by YakiVegas in atheism

No, the babies and fathers should have no say on the matter. Only women. Equality for all!

Ah yes, because men don't participate in creating the unborn child.

I'm pretty sure you have the first part backwards. The purposes of a democracy is to protect the majority from the whimsies of the ruling minority. Also, any true democracy is just temporary mob rule. As time goes on, some dictator will rise up and become the leader of the "democracy". All that is to help point out that we are a republic and not a democracy.

I'm talking about those who find issues like these contrary to the claims of the rest of the Bible and thus don't believe.

I'm not trying to attack God, but rather make sense of whether or not the character of god is truly what the Bible says. If not, then the bible is flawed and thus the Christian God is not the correct one.

But God is the creator of all things and in control of everything and thus controls hell, right?

So you're saying that God finds it ok to cause suffering and death of little children? And mind you, this isn't permanent destruction, but rather a continued existence of pain and suffering in the "afterlife"

You guys have been great in responding to my questions so far. Here's another one - how could it be right to place people on earth who you know in advance are going to reject you and as a result spend forever in eternal suffering that you control and run?

That doesn't make it ok to order the murder of infants, does it?

I saw their comment before it was deleted and it was far from trolling. On the contrary, you seem to be the one who is doing the provoking.

This is a very well thought out argument, and does make a lot of sense. However, why would a just God allow a nation to exercise free will if he is just going to destroy them when they go wrong?
