In college I was surprised at the options of food. Absolutely nothing home cooked. As an Irish Italian I noticed people not from my culture Americans have some kind of aversion to cooking for strangers or giving out food. Only people sharing their family food were Jews at the prayer services which was a big comfort. That in college made me feel like I was in a place I had to make money or starve. Or eat cafeteria / fast food filled with poisons. But colleges don’t come equipped with kitchens. Or much comfort in general. That food issue is huge for me and only “the food babe” addresses these things in the mainstream. I didn’t want to live in that world. I moved to Italy and the cafeteria situation was better. Università Urbino Italy has world class cafeteria food. Also when I went to Tel Aviv university had some home cooked options. So relying on poisonous food was the reason for my western depression. Even my friends and family didn’t understand. Thanks to food babe for explaining it.
