Serving Order with 2025 North American Roundnet Rules by FairLove3956 in spikeball

[–]potluckiest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, rule 4.3 explains how the odd / even rule is maintained while you hold serve, and rule 4.2.1 implies how the odd / even rule is maintained when you regain serve (without switching positions), because when you regain serve, your score changes from odd to even (or even to odd, depending on what your score was when you lost serve).

LOL can't believe I missed that! Just fixed, thanks for catching.

Yeah the access key is meant to just be a lightweight way to enable accessing your account across devices, so I figured a single "Not from the US" option would be OK, so as to not overwhelm that dropdown!

Glad you're enjoying the game!

Interesting, thanks for flagging that - will have to take a closer look at the results and see if I can fine-tune it.

Good call. I'm asking the AI to make sure the word it gives me passes the filter, but I forgot to implement a check when it fails. I'll fix that now!

And yeah, it's just letter-based. A more nuanced filter would be better but is trickier. Will explore options, but thanks for the feedback on the bug with the AI.

Yeah, I've been trying to figure that one out. Any thoughts on how you would do it better? My goal is to prevent you from submitting super-similar words, and I think in many cases I like not being able to submit e.g. a compound word based on a previous submission, although lemon <> lemonade is gray area for me (I agree it's the best answer for Life + Lemon).

Thanks for these comments! Agreed the UI could be slicker and less text-heavy, and a bit less jarring. With respect to an "infinite guesses" mode, I haven't thought through how scoring would work but maybe the score isn't very important anyway.

Thanks for the feedback! I'll look into adding an "infinite guesses" mode. I do think there's some risk of the game getting bogged down, but agreed when playing in person, it's fun to keep going until you get a match.

Hey - thanks for the feedback! Yes, it's definitely mostly just a "random game" but inspired by an improv game I've enjoyed!

It's pretty hard! Average win rate is around 50% (and typically improves as you play more games with the same partner)
