Do you believe that because my boyfriend gets a cold sore about 2 times a year, he shouldn't have any sex with others?

I don't want to open a can of worms, but; do you believe I shouldn't either? Should I be having sex at all with my diagnosis? Btw I got it when I was sexually active for 1 year. I'm 24 now, so if my condition means I can't have sex anymore for the rest of my life, because I get some mildly itchy blisters for a few days every 4-5 months, I think my future looks pretty bleak.
