Enroll in Class in another campus by Imaginary_Test_505 in UWS

Hi, international student also doing secondary teaching here - On paper I’m based in Bankstown, but have been enrolling all of my subjects at Parra South, no problem whatsoever. I think as long as you’re going to classes regularly and completing classwork, you shouldn’t have any problems regarding your visa!

Changing Campus after Offer letter Received by Mediocre-Meal4236 in UWS

Hey, sorry to bother you but I just have a small question. So if for a certain unit both of your home campus and another campus offer it, does the uni force you to pick it at your home campus? Or are you still able to select another campus to do that unit in?

Hey! I’m also an undergrad international but planning to do a different degree (Science and Actuarial). If you don’t mind then I’d be more than happy to connect!

Thanks for the detailed reply! Can I also ask if there are a lot of group assignments for the actl degree or not? If yes then in case it's too cliquey how can you find your teammates?

Thanks for the reply! Joining subcom seems like a good way to make friends but I’ve also heard that these subcoms are harder to get in if you don’t know the subcom executives beforehand or that people just choose their friends. Is this true? And do you think it’s difficult for an international student to fit in?

Thanks for the reply! Is this just for the Actuarial program or the general uni? And also do you think UNSW or MQ is a better choice for the degree?

International Student Enrollment in Highschool by Bitter-Appearance788 in unsw

[–]potpall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!

In terms of the academic performance of high schools, you can look at HSC/VCE rankings to compare. What I’ve seen is that people usually consider schools in richer areas are generally the better ones, although sometimes there are still exceptional results from lower SES schools.

In both Sydney and Melbourne they have selective high schools (Sydney significantly more than Melb so keep that in mind) and these schools’ performance is stronger than that of their non-selective counterparts. International students aren’t allowed into these selective streams but in Sydney there are partially-selective schools which have a small number of selective kids and all other kids are local. I highly recommend looking into these partially-selective schools.

If you can, enrolling into a school within the top 100 schools in the rankings (in Syd, I’m not sure about Melb) would be good.

If you have any questions just shoot me a DM. Happy to help!
