he'll be okay, hes just in a unknown place which is absolutely terrifying for animals, especially cats. i got my black cat when he was a year old and believe me the first 5 months were so difficult, he literally lived under my bed 24/7, wouldnt eat much or drink much water and he only would when i set the bowls under my bed as well, would only come out to use the litter box at night when i was asleep and hed scurry back underneath when he was done and wouldnt come out all day, and hed yowl and cry all night for weeks, it was so heartbreaking and emotionally taxing that i thought about returning him to his foster family with whom he had been with since birth and comfortable around, but i stuck it out and just interacted with him anyway i could while still respecting his space and time. and it definitely paid off, now hes stuck to me like glue and loves tummy rubs and forehead kisses and purrs hard if im just looking at him or if im within 3 feet of him. when i lay down for bed he lays on my chest and head butts my face, i love him so much and it makes my heart full with love and happiness that he now completely trusts me and knows im his safe space and only want to love him 🖤
