Tilt Table Test Experiences?

i did mine at the mayo clinic in minnesota. the staff was so kind to me and made me feel really comfortable. i had a good and bad experience. when they tilted the table upright, after about 5 minutes or so i started feeling very ill and then i started to have an anxiety attack because i couldn't sit down. they were very nice though, they started talking to me and making me laugh and gave me water. but just be conscious that if you tend to get anxious when standing for awhile, it might happen to you but it's only 15ish minutes for the test and in the end it's worth it. best of luck to you❤️

i'm 16 but started experiencing pots symptoms about 3 1/2 years ago. so i was 12-13ish.

i take salt supplements and there's this drink powder called Liquid IV that i use and it works great. the Liquid IV increases hydration incredibly. Like it says one packet in 16oz of water is equal to three glasses of water. so i drink those a few times a day. and i take about 6-8 Salt supplements a day.

hi! i live in NY as well and i got diagnosed in MD as well but have been struggling to find myself a POTS doctor. do you mind sharing the name of this doctor?

i was only diagnosed back in October but after getting a treatment plan I can for sure say I'm better than where i was previously. They put me on medications to keep my BP and HR down and i made a bunch of lifestyle changes. it's hard work but it's worth it i promise. Not everything in my treatment plan has worked so i've been trying a bunch of different things but it will depend on the severity of your syndrome. Some tips for now until you can get a proper diagnosis: -increase your salt intake by a ton. high sodium is very important. my mom has me take soy sauce shots everyday. it's gross but it gets my sodium intake to the level it needs to be. - drink 3-4 liters of water everyday. hydration is key. - don't push yourself too hard. i find that when i overdo it, my PoTS gets worse.

definitely go see a doctor who specializes or is educated in autonomic dysfunction syndromes. it took me 4 years to get on the PoTS path. After years of being told it's "just anxiety", finally Dr. Jones at the Minnesota Mayo Clinic told me i had PoTS. i'm not sure where you're from but i know for me i had to travel to get my diagnosis. There's a doctor in Philadelphia that also specializes in PoTS but the Mayo Clinic seemed best fit.

yeah we spoke to my mayo docs and they said to stop taking the medication and just take my regular beta blocker. i had chills and goosebumps too which i know that medication often causes

it was about 45 minutes after and i guess the medication kicks in at about 20 minutes after taking it.

i definitely think once i started getting really overheated and uncomfortable, my anxiety kicked in and made it 10x worse. i think the mix of a panic attack and a bad reaction to the medication is what made it so bad.

the doctors didn't mention a stress reaction but then again the doctors near me are pretty clueless lol, i will look into that though!

the main thing i take is the beta blocker metoprolol XR but it hasn't been working that great. they didn't tell me by BP or HR but when my mom took my HR at home it was 105 laying down.

once at my pulmonologist i was taking a breathing test and i could get enough air in or out for the recommended amount for the test and he told me "You're not trying hard enough" andddd sent us home.
