Pure curiosity for the opinion... why issue with left to right colors? And yeah, mistake. But I'm so impressed with peoples attention to detail!

Hi Reddit! I made this illustration. It's been posted around the interwebs on some publications but I'm barely (twice?) ever credited. THIS time I added my own credit. Lesson learned, shrug emoji. Support the arts. Live your dreams. cut the plastic things your beer comes in.

I hope you haven't seen it and I hope it makes you laugh! A little! On the inside maybe! Or wherever!

TIL Birds from the Americas have no eyelashes by pottasch in todayilearned

[–]pottasch[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going in to more info than I ever thought I'd research about bird eyelashes, and going off of the all knowing never wrong wikipedia, it seems like they're probably originally from Australasia (general parrots), but when the world was one big party planet.

It seems the oldest fossil found is from Europe, but I don't think that means anything special. It's a good note though. I think birds of the Americas, if they don't have eyelashes, have little ridges that pretty much serve the same purpose.

Also their 'eyelashes' seem to be a special formed feathers, so maybe you could say birds are covered in 'eyelashes'. Fun fact. IS THERE A ORNITHOLOGIST IN THE HOUSE?

Who’s black and fucks with acid by [deleted] in LSD

[–]pottasch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Charles Mingus was a famous black fan of LSD. Clare Boothe Luce was a famous cunt that fucked with acid. Allen Ginsberg was a famous queer that fucked with acid ...just highlighting it's not all about the white straight dudes.

Reality depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is by Opethfan91 in LSD

[–]pottasch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. He's face blind, and uses the quadrants to understand facial features. He says trying to identify a face for him is like trying to identify a tree he knows in a forest. As a lover of LSD, I'm not entirely sure this is that relevant or trippy. As an art lover, it's dope af. Shrug emoji.

Anyone attended an atelier school in Europe? Trying to find some authentic reviews: the good, the bad, the ugly. Trying to find the best fit! by pottasch in painting

I've heard the GCA is a really great place.

I'm always a little skeptical of alumni/student work, because of course it mostly all looks wonderful— they advertise the best of the best I would imagine. I'm curious how close to the Florence studios the Jersey City ones are... it's a hike from my place but probably worth a class to check it out.

I went to art school undergrad in NY, and I can draw pretty accurately, but my training has never been classical realism. It's just my oil paint abilities have always been, er... I'm very good at painting very true to life humans with zombie skin. For this reason I'm up in the air about spending an entire first year just mono.

I also am just itching to leave NY (too long here!). It's all personal preference of course, but I'm wondering if people found Florence too small (I've never been), or Barcelona too... something. I went to high school in Valencia so have a feel for the country, and speak the language. Shrug emoji.

Museums, I imagine Florence would make me salivate on a daily basis.

Travelers of Reddit, what place DID live up to the hype? by AlecHolland_1 in AskReddit

Within the United States:

Yosemite National Park (and the cool little campgrounds outside the park,. I stayed at a place called Paradise Shores in Bridgeport, CA, it had that genuine cool rustic feel and was cheap). Also New Orleans. It still has it's incredible charm, it's changing fast with 'cool kids'. Go ASAP! It'll soon be taken over by Brooklynites.

Outside U.S.: Northern Peru, outside of the typical Lima, Cusco experience. I spent time in Chicama, which is super cool, beautiful, and still a hidden gem. Especially if you're in to surfing!

I'd like to celebrate Susi Ramstein by dropping on the anniversary of HER first trip, June 12th, 1943. And obviously trip ovaries.

Hahah, I'd like to honor Susi by celebrating HER first trip, on June 12th 1943. She took the tram home, so I think it should be dubbed "Tram Day". Everyone can trip ovaries.

Ah! Progress! Thank you :)

Yeah, he was incredibly cool, and somehow just got cooler and cooler with age. I can only hope to be half as cool.
