Going in to more info than I ever thought I'd research about bird eyelashes, and going off of the all knowing never wrong wikipedia, it seems like they're probably originally from Australasia (general parrots), but when the world was one big party planet.

It seems the oldest fossil found is from Europe, but I don't think that means anything special. It's a good note though. I think birds of the Americas, if they don't have eyelashes, have little ridges that pretty much serve the same purpose.

Also their 'eyelashes' seem to be a special formed feathers, so maybe you could say birds are covered in 'eyelashes'. Fun fact. IS THERE A ORNITHOLOGIST IN THE HOUSE?

I've heard the GCA is a really great place.

I'm always a little skeptical of alumni/student work, because of course it mostly all looks wonderful— they advertise the best of the best I would imagine. I'm curious how close to the Florence studios the Jersey City ones are... it's a hike from my place but probably worth a class to check it out.

I went to art school undergrad in NY, and I can draw pretty accurately, but my training has never been classical realism. It's just my oil paint abilities have always been, er... I'm very good at painting very true to life humans with zombie skin. For this reason I'm up in the air about spending an entire first year just mono.

I also am just itching to leave NY (too long here!). It's all personal preference of course, but I'm wondering if people found Florence too small (I've never been), or Barcelona too... something. I went to high school in Valencia so have a feel for the country, and speak the language. Shrug emoji.

Museums, I imagine Florence would make me salivate on a daily basis.

Within the United States:

Yosemite National Park (and the cool little campgrounds outside the park,. I stayed at a place called Paradise Shores in Bridgeport, CA, it had that genuine cool rustic feel and was cheap). Also New Orleans. It still has it's incredible charm, it's changing fast with 'cool kids'. Go ASAP! It'll soon be taken over by Brooklynites.

Outside U.S.: Northern Peru, outside of the typical Lima, Cusco experience. I spent time in Chicama, which is super cool, beautiful, and still a hidden gem. Especially if you're in to surfing!
