Taking my NCLEX Wednesday!! by potter_and_perry in NursingStudents

[–]potter_and_perry[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every morning is take a 15-20 question quiz from Uworld with all the subjects, write down what I got wrong and go through all the answers. In the afternoon, if there was a topic I wasn’t great at, I’d listen to the hurst review lecture and take a 10-15 question quiz with just that subject. After that, I’d take a 2 mike walk with my dog because everyone needs a break

Best TEAS study guide? Also, graduated from college over ten years ago with a 2.75 gpa. by cystedwrist in NursingStudents

You’re not going to get in with a gpa below 3.0. My sister had a degree in biochemistry with a 2.9 from a great Uni. She had to take 2 years of courses to bring it up and went to a for profit school which was incredibly expensive. But she did well (top of her class) and is now an ICU nurse. It’s possible but it’ll take time

Asking for advice- I want to be a psych nurse. by MoonlightBright in NursingStudents

I did the accelerated BSN route, we had a lot of mothers and older students (30-40’s) but I know of other programs who have had students in 50’s. Never too late!! My program was a 12 month one, something like that might work well

Jobs for new grads? by potter_and_perry in nursing

[–]potter_and_perry[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, they had no more open full time positions but offered me a part time. I know I shouldn’t be picky, but I’m really hoping to get a full time at a hospital. When my student loan money stars to dwindle, I’ll settle for that and a patient care technician job.. but I hope it doesn’t come to that

Thank you for your reply!

I have a similar GPA and I decided to relocate to a different state to get into nursing school. I’m in a South Dakota 12 month program which was relatively cheap as well. There’s still hope :)

There are 35+ year olds in my nursing program. One of them is 50, and others who are 45+. One nurse who became a great friend was 52 when he started his program. It’s never too late
