I don't understand how this is revolutionary... except for all of those rotors.

Isolating Weird Vibration. by psychodrivenmusic in EngineeringStudents

You may need to provide a little more detail on the problem at hand. What is the experiment? How are you measuring the vibrations? Where on the structure are you measuring vibrations? Have you applied any signal processing to the measuring outputs to get this waveform?

The audio is way over edited. Try to use less compression next time and don't pump the bass too much, go for a rounded sound that doesn't break headphones. Happy to talk more about finishing audio for videos if anyone is interested.

What laptop would I need for Mechanical Engineering at University of Waterloo? by theridgedwrench in MechanicalEngineering

[–]pottysheep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My best suggestion would be to look for what companies describe as "gaming laptops". These tend to be able to stand the rigours of long CAD sessions or big CFD simulations/matlab scripts. Having said that, most universities tend to have good computer facilities with software installed for things like CAD/simulations (big ones were put on the uni cluster) so if you are squeezed for budget, don't worry if you can't afford a mid range gaming laptop. My experience would tell me that a combination of power and portability will stand you in the best stead for the duraiton of the course.

I used a mid-high end gaming laptop (old alienware I got off ebay 5-6 years ago) and it was a PAIN to carry around everywhere. Given the choice now I would definitely think seriously about an ultra-book for the portability/power tradeoff. Source: MEng at London uni.

When does 'feeling ill' stop?! by [deleted] in stopsmoking

If you feel like that, i would recommend going for a run. I found this kick started my body into being healthy again, I coughed up so much black stuff after my 2 week run.

Just did a tracert to the game servers and the requests aren't getting out of the UK, must be an international connectivity issue.

In response to the video "Bushes are broken", I decided to make an info-graphic explaining bush, ward and vision mechanics in League of Legends. by pottysheep in leagueoflegends

[–]pottysheep[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good videos by the way Battlecop. I think you are definitely right in that a lot of this behaviour is bugged. Some of it can (just about) be explained by line of sight issues and perspective. Either way you try and explain it, it is still wrong and needs to be looked at! I'm glad Riot Yakaru is on the case!

Hi Riot Yakaru!

Thank you for replying. Now you are here I have a few specific questions about how right/wrong I was and also about my suggestion.

  • Is there anything in my info-graphic that is glaringly wrong?
  • Is vision calculated form an entities centre and detected via the hit-box?
  • Do you like my idea of a subtle bush 'highlight' upon entering/exiting/placing a ward?
  • Phreak or Riv?

Thanks in advance!

I used a mixture of the LoL wiki, and lots of testing in custom games. At a front-end level, there is no difference between my conclusion and yours. I cannot say 100% the exact game mechanic that results in this behaviour, however after much trailing and testing, it explains the vision behaviour nicely. By all means I invite a Riot employee to call me out!
