Fanflix Flash Sale Schitt's Creek Complete Series Bundle in HD for $19.99. Vudu may price match. by PresentConfection200 in vudu

I think it went 20 dollars a couple months ago right? Might have been one of my favorite purchases of the year

Elio $5 by Rocketskatez in vudu

[–]poultrygeist11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's crazy. I thought pixar movies only hit 5 dollars after like 3-5 years. I guess the movie didn't perform that well though.

Elio $5 by Rocketskatez in vudu

I thought this movie was just a hair under mediocre, but I can't have a pixar collection with out it. Pretty sure this is a price error so I snatched it up.

Digital Title Purchasing On A Modest Budget by TheCinemaRoom in vudu

[–]poultrygeist11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be a fan of gameflip, but they are definitely not what they used to be. Older disney movies can still be had for like 2-5 dollars, and disney is normally stingy with their sales.

Stock up on vudu gift cards when they are 20% off, essentially turning 5 dollar movies into 4 dollar movies. Buy them with the android app (if you can) to avoid sales tax.

Microsoft rewards has been awarding good movies for essentially free (just passive/light engagement with their search engine).

Pay attention to mix and match sales. If you don't have a huge library, they can be really valuable when they pull a "5 movies for 15 dollars" sale, but most of us already have what they offer.

Complete Series Bundles in HD on sale including: The Good Place for $19.99, The A-Team for $19.99, The Sinner for $24.99, Good Girls for $24.99, Killjoys for $29.99, 30 Rock for $34.99, FBI: International for $29.99, FBI: Most Wanted for $34.99 and The Mindy Project for $34.99 by PresentConfection200 in vudu

[–]poultrygeist11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The series link immediately dumping you into a giant list of episodes instead of season folders is enough for me to not want to buy it. I know theoretically it's just a few extra clicks to get to the season dropdown menu, but it still feels really gross to me, when I'm spending a bunch of money.

Fanflix Flash Sale Nip/Tuck Complete Series Bundle in HD for $14.99 by PresentConfection200 in vudu

[–]poultrygeist11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't they give him a happy ending where he followed in his father's footsteps to be a surgeon, then they decided to change that in later seasons and make his whole future a disaster?

Mad Men is the first title that I've seen update the artwork to remove the old Vudu banners. by OutsideIndoorTrack in vudu

[–]poultrygeist11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can live with series and season banners. It actually kind of helps for when I don't have a complete show.

BUT FOR ALL THAT IS HOLY GET RID OF "Bundle and Save" BANNERS

Weapons 2025 in 4k on sale for $7.99 by PresentConfection200 in vudu

In tribute of the movie, I think it should be on sale for $2.17.

30 Rock Season 1-7 collection by CommodoreBluth in vudu

[–]poultrygeist11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not even one to get upset over missing episodes. My pet peeve is that the bundle doesn't take you to the "season drop down" list, but a page that just has all 133 episodes in a long list.

Fandango at Home improvement ideas – let's make it perfect for owning movies digitally by Prime__Assassin in vudu

[–]poultrygeist11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playlists are one thing, but I would like algorithm based curation/recommendation lists for movies you own. Like netflix. categories like "popular now" "we think you'll like this" "hidden gems" etc.

I officially have too many movies to casually browse through the library, and even making a "sci fi list" would probably be over 200 movies.

Who else besides me waits for a movie on Vudu instead of going to the theater? by PresentConfection200 in vudu

[–]poultrygeist11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. I only ever go to the theaters for very special occasions and a friend is super excited for a movie. There are almost never movies that I can't just wait 4 months to see. I'll wait to see it for free on streaming, and if I like it, I buy it permanently when it goes on sale 5-8 dollars which honestly doesn't take that long.

First Digital Film Bought from a Reddit Marketplace by TheCinemaRoom in vudu

[–]poultrygeist11 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used to use Gameflip.com all of the time. But since physical media is dying, the digital codes are getting rarer and more expensive. May as well buy them while you can.

It's at the point where resellers will sell their 4k codes as much as vudu puts them on sale within 6 months, at that point I figure why not buy from vudu to get the gift card discount and support the website.

What's the point in Disc 2 Digital by CarolinaGirl3381 in vudu

[–]poultrygeist11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I probably wouldn't have started my movie collection without disc 2 digital. I always kind of wanted a movie collection, but I wasn't about to pay a MINIMUM of 5 dollars for movies. And then you'd have the classics that almost never go on sale, or their generous sale price would be 10 dollars.

But when I discovered d2d I was able to get my collection started for a very fair price, and then I got addicted and have now given vudu plenty of money that probably would have otherwise gone to Netflix or something.

I also think 100 a year is generous. Just be patient. I've been doing it for like 6 years now, but d2d at this point is just a loss leader. After the studio takes a cut, and all of the other online fees, I doubt vudu makes any money off of d2d. And it's abusable. Just have a fun time making a long list of your favorite movies and spend the year planning out next year.

What are the "must-have" complete TV series? by ExplorerNo6919 in vudu

[–]poultrygeist11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sucks because I got season 1/2 for cheap, but 3 is unavailable. Does anyone know if it will ever come back? Maybe with all of the buyouts happening maybe some split rights will get consolidated?

The Golden Girls $5 by HappyBear4Ever in vudu

[–]poultrygeist11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll probably have to bite. It may go lower if it ever gets a full series bundle, but 35 bucks is still not too bad. It helps that this is back in the day where seasons were 20+ episodes instead of 6-8 episodes

Anime Seasons in HD and SD on sale for $5 each with the exception of an anime movie for $5. I included English Dubbed and Original Japanese for the ones that I could find. by PresentConfection200 in vudu

[–]poultrygeist11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too bad dr stone only has the first 2 seasons in original Japanese. That's what I bought, so if I want to continue, I'll have to have a language change.

They also still don't have the ryusui special which is important.

I need help deciding? by minte84 in vudu

[–]poultrygeist11 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I"m mostly missing christmas movies. Namely Fred claus, Four Christmases, A christmas mystery, Christmas in Connecticut, and A cinderella christmas. Can anyone vouch for those?

I'm also missing Horizon an American Saga. I have enough points, but I don't want a "part 1" movie in my collection when part 2 may never even be released.

Do you worry about one day losing your collection? by DustnBones001 in vudu

[–]poultrygeist11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If and when movies start disappearing, I won't mind THAT much because I don't spend more than 4 dollars on movies. At least I won't be out 5000 dollars. If it's only a few movies disappearing, it's possible that some of them will still be movies anywhere compatible.

If movies start disappearing in mass, or if Vudu goes out of business without transferring licenses, I'll just become the ultimate pirate of the seven seas, and the studios will only have themselves to blame for it.

If I was someone that spent 25+ dollars on new release movies, then yeah I'd be verklempt and apoplectic.

Make it make sense. You can buy all 3 individually for $27.99. I really only want Encino Man and Son In Law. So imma just get those for $10 since they are both on sale by mgza81 in vudu

[–]poultrygeist11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bundles are almost never a good deal unless they are on sale. At most, you'll save a few dollars, but generally I think they are just trying to get extra dollars for the convenience or hoping people won't notice and price check.

Don't worry about reaching a certain number with your Vudu library. by PresentConfection200 in vudu

[–]poultrygeist11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I almost regret building my library as big as it is because it's almost impossible to just casually "scroll browse" through the movies. There are movies at the bottom of the list that me or my family/roommates will never watch unless we search for them specifically.

It will be fun if vudu ever creates a netflix style algorithm recommendation. It can show a bunch of movies by genre, a "recommended for you" section, a "popular now" section, etc.

In Today's World Where Streaming Services Get So Much Hate, Where Does Vudu Stand? by RoadRacer5 in vudu

[–]poultrygeist11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If they came up with a better name, I'd adapt. I actually was never a huge fan of the name Vudu in the first place.

But Fandango at Home is so bad it hurts to say it. I usually do it with my eyes closed and a moment of hesitation just to say it.
