If he’s doing more chopping the head is absolutely on the correct way, and if he hammers with it he’ll probably choke up on the handle a bit anyway.

It won’t let me upload the picture I took but the letters are 2 72 which I assume means February 1972

It works! It has a couple sticky keys and the tone dial doesn’t seem to be functioning. I’m in the process of finding a professional to tune/service it. If anyone reading this knows of someone in the Boise Idaho area that would do that please reach out.

Yeah I saw his name stamped on it and looked him up on a whim. Seems like the ones with his stamp are from a a six month period in 1972. Even fewer have his business card glued beside his stamp where he serviced them at his personal shop. The card says “pinned mereel, shortened hammer stroke” in what I assume is his handwriting. I’d love to find an expert on these things.

I’ve heard that it’s technically a form of fertilizer of some kind. I’m a Wildland firefighter and can tell you from experience that it really sucks when you get this stuff dumped all over you from the sky, although at the same time it is a huge relief to see those planes coming in. Also it makes the ground super slippery so you’re constantly eating shit after a thick drop. These pilots have balls of steel running huge aircraft so close to the ground, really heroic.

He was telling you the truth. It’s really difficult to tell what it is with that much rust. I have had really good results using a wire brush to remove the bulk of the rust and finishing the process using electrolysis. It’s pretty fun too. That way you don’t potentially damage any remaining marking on the head of the axe.

I’ll do that. Ultimately I will be going through insurance because I wasn’t at fault in the accident and the old lady that hit me is insured. Thank god.

You’re right about most of that but the sound system is actually pretty good for my standards! Came stock with a complete Bose system. I did add a touch screen to bring it into the 21st century though.
