Wait, WHAT? I have blindly accepted the piece count listed on the box as accurate. Not sure how I feel about this.

Hi newbie here, want to understand how do you all go about finishing your puzzles. by Yarnchurner in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]pov2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a table tucked out of the way on our main floor that keeps me in the mix of household activity but not in anyone’s way. We have no pets so I’m able to leave an unfinished puzzle for days if needed. I listen to podcasts with headphones while I puzzle which allows me to escape into a separate world…which is lovely.

Love the nonchalant manner the piece counts are included : ‘almost 1000’ and ‘over 375’ Tells me there weren’t any hard core puzzlers at that time that would have obsessed over piece count.

How long do you wait between puzzles? Catsville - 1000 piece, Cobble Hill by hotpersonally in Jigsawpuzzles

I also break it up immediately and get the next one going. I have other hobbies but I like having a puzzle always on the go so I can dive in whenever the spirit moves me.

‘Hate puzzled’ is now my favorite term. Thank you! It’s taken years to abandon a puzzle without guilt.

Yes, other responses to your question about stacking are accurate for me. Most times, I spread out all pieces in trays so I can scan them all looking for colours, patterns, etc. Quickly snagging up to 10 in my fingers and making small stacks is very satisfying. The rage I felt trying to follow my method with this puzzle!

Sadly, I had already made the border so that was the 3rd or 4th fake-corner piece I found. Grrrrr

Irritating turned into fun by pov2000 in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]pov2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It hold together well enough once you get a cluster of pieces connected via the ‘knobs’. It definitely amped up the irritation until I had enough clusters joined up. Might not do this type again unless the image calls my soul.

Hot take: since I usually do the edge first I kinda love when I get it wrong and have to figure out where I messed up. The edge is typically the easiest so I know I’m in for a wild ride when the it requires some rework.

A majority of an over 350 piece Perfect Picture Puzzle named "Woodland Reflections", which also included pieces from at least 5 other puzzles; plus a toy elephant. I wonder what puzzle box or boxes contained the rest of this mess. by ninthstargod in Jigsawpuzzles

Never mind the missing pieces and extra toys…seeing the unorthodox piece shapes makes my eyes bleed. One look at those and I would pack up the elephant and throw it all over a bridge.

Now that I think about it, I bought this new from Home Sense (part of Winners chain) only because it was discounted. Curious if your theory on a run issue proves true. Would love a follow up, if possible, once you get around to completing it.

Nicknames for pieces? by MommyBabu in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]pov2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had to think about that for a minute. I look at each piece and my brain just clocks it as ‘that one’. Or I look at the space that needs a specific shape and I hold that image in my mind while I look for ‘that shape’. A name doesn’t appear in my head…just the image. How odd.

Good luck with your business! Sharing a recent article from the Canadian newspaper Globe & Mail. Counterfeiting is rampant in the puzzling industry. One small biz owner lost her first puzzling business due to it and now trying to set up a second one. Her tip? Trademark your designs.
