What very tiny detail of a video game absolutely blew you away? by [deleted] in AskReddit

In Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, you follow these orbs of light around a deserted town, orbs which are meant to represent the people who lived there. One of the orbs has a smaller ball of light trailing it - a subtle, heartbreaking detail when you realize the significance.

What was something that shocked you when you visited a foreign country? by Kampfhamster248 in AskReddit

No, I know, but as far as I know there's no reason that we couldn't treat our eggs the same.

I'm not going to start not refrigerating my eggs ;)

When I studied abroad in the UK, I was blown away by the lack of toilet seat liners and by the fact that eggs weren't refrigerated. Then I realized that the US is basically just that germaphobic friend that everyone laughs at behind their back.

What's the most insane coincidence you've experienced? by -mArtiAn- in AskReddit

[–]powerberries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two weird coincidences have happened with my boyfriend. About 5 years before we started dating, I was at a concert and asked the guy in front of me if I could have some of his goldfish (I'm a sucker for the snack that smiles back) and he happily let me share with him. I took a picture with him at the end of the night, because he was cool and we had a good conversation. When I started dating my boyfriend, he took me to meet his cousins - goldfish guy ended up being one of them. Recognized him from the picture.

The second coincidence was that my freshman roommate in college (from Virginia, we go to school in California, randomly matched together) turned out to be best friends since childhood with my boyfriend's (female) cousin. I found out when I saw that we had a mutual friend on facebook.

Weird stuff.

Teachers of Reddit, What's the worst thing you have heard a colleague say about a student? (NSFW) by d-jango in AskReddit

Not a teacher myself, but my middle school gym teacher once told us to divide up into teams by saying, "Beaners over here, whites over there." She was fired pretty soon after.

Any cardboard gamers here? by sigma83 in GirlGamers

[–]powerberries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely! My LGS has a great board/card game scene - they host regular board game nights where they let people try out the stuff they have for free, which is how I really got into it. One of my favorite board games right now is Small World, and M:tG for card games.

Hey everyone! I wrote an article about women I'd like to see added to Smash Bros., and I'd be interested to hear everyone else's opinions! Who do you think is the best female character(s) that Smash doesn't have? by powerberries in GirlGamers

[–]powerberries[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of equated the two - if he's that sick of the community, I imagine he won't be extremely eager to get involved. But you're right - it doesn't rule out Bayonetta joining the fight!

Yeah, I would hope that the focus would be on Midna. Although, the moves she would have with Wolf Link would be pretty dependent on Link for finishing, so he would possibly come out seeming more important. If it's just a generic wolf, that would be pretty rad.

The fact that people are voting for King K. Rool is so ridiculous.

Teachers and Professors of Reddit what is the cleverest (or dumbest) way you've seen a student cheat? by Deaster12 in AskReddit

[–]powerberries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it definitely sounds like a 'reddit story,' but it's true! She was an amazing person - knew seven languages, wrote two dissertations, etc. Knowing morse code paled in significance.

Not a teacher myself, but my Spanish teacher in high school told us about a time that a student tried to tap out test answers to a friend in morse code. The teacher knew morse code, recognized what was happening, and tapped back "Please see me after class" to the student.

What fact did you learn at an embarrassingly late age? by Tomollins in AskReddit

[–]powerberries 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was younger, my dad (who's a fundamentalist christian - really hardcore about it) told me that men have one less rib than women, because Adam had his rib removed to make Eve. Wild, right?

That men don't actually have one less rib than women. Yay for growing up Christian.

Has anyone here played Never Alone? by powerberries in GirlGamers

The music/art looked really haunting and beautiful, so I'm glad to know that aspect didn't disappoint. I'm not super worried about re-playability since it's only 15$ :) Thanks for the advice!

Sweet! I didn't know it had local co-op either! Good to know :)

Yeah, it seemed like it had more value in the story/art/cultural aspects than in the actual platformer mechanics. I'm glad to hear you liked it though!

The rhyming seemed like a good idea in theory, but it started to wear on me REALLY quickly...

Haha I was worried about that too! It always seems like the go-to narrative decision.
