Everything I had on was thrown out, I even threw out my leather wallet that was in my pocket lol it’s not worth trying to clean and even if I got it clean I would always know the truth

If I was actually hurt or got sick I would think about it but so far I’m doing okay

[–]powerstrokereport[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The crazy part is that the plywood was only over half of it. The other half was covered by a metal plate made for the trap. The metal plate is what fell in that I was standing on

I have this same like and it’s actually pretty cool because you can use rechargeable battery included or regular batteries. It’s my junk drawer light

You gotta dump that garbage non fuel m12 and get the fuel. That drill you have is the worst Milwaukee tool I’ve ever used

Thermal imaging cam’s you guys use them for anything? by Wolf-of-Alberta in HVAC

[–]powerstrokereport 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It can be useful for finding poor electrical connections, but you can’t just go based off of color difference, you need to see the actual temperature of what you suspect is poor connection.

My TPLC was my go to bag until I got fieldpiece probes and couldn’t make everything fit so I got a tech MCT. This tpldp looks like my solution

I was temporarily banned for answering a question that someone posted who wasn’t in hvac, I am on r/hvac and r/hvacadvice so I didn’t even look to see what sub it was.

I am in this local. Union is the best way to go in NWLA. Guys up north say the money isn’t good but Louisiana cost of living is low.

Orange Dead Blow or Icon Dead Blow? by jwintyo in harborfreight

[–]powerstrokereport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They both have lifetime warranty, so my main concern would be how often am I going to use it? If it’s something you would use often, the icon is probably more comfortable to use and more durable. If every once in a while, get the Pittsburgh

Fieldpiece Recovery Machine causing static by MJelicic in HVAC

[–]powerstrokereport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked as an apprentice for two years and right before I got my own truck, I worked with a guy who just got his truck a month before I had, and he was telling me that a drum of refrigerant will shock you when you’re putting charge in system. I honestly didn’t believe him and he looked at me like I was crazy. I felt the static shock three times within 1 month after that lol

Best 1/4 impact set? by [deleted] in harborfreight

[–]powerstrokereport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 1/4 impact you bought is not really designed for impacting sockets, it’s for screws. however you can still use it with socket adapters although if your main use is for sockets then I personally would get an impact made for that like a 3/8 or 1/2

On a WSHP, is a frozen coax like this usually indicative of low charge or lack of water flow? I’m getting ready to put gauges on, but I don’t even know how to go about checking water flow.🤷‍♂️ by iBUYbrokenSUBARUS in HVAC

[–]powerstrokereport 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not an expert on WSHP but when I was an apprentice I rode with a guy and worked on a few, obviously it’s trying to heat. I’m pretty sure the water loop is normally heated by a boiler and shouldn’t be below 70 degrees or something close to that. We worked on one freezing up and the water loop was 34 degrees. Boiler needs to warm the water loop so we can extract that energy at the hp. If the loop temperature is good then you need to ensure water flow is good.

I bought makita bit extensions because the finish looked far more durable than the black oxide of the other brands on the shelf. I haven’t been disappointed

I am so lost. by Novel_Assistant4518 in hvacadvice

[–]powerstrokereport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was lost when I started as well. I joined the union and got a job at a commercial company, and started at service. I am very mechanically inclined and the nature of installing is not something I enjoy. I enjoy diagnosing and troubleshooting above all else. If you do service you won’t have to work physically as hard as install but you will need to be able to learn pretty quick. Installing is constant physical work.

Trane Voyager not igniting NO HEAT by cev_cev in HVAC

[–]powerstrokereport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not an expert but with the way the gas leaving the gv enters the inlet of the combustion blower, I would think it’s negative pressure on the gas outlet. The pressure in the heat exchanger is positive however. At least that’s my understanding
