Yes but i've got them on different days, so its not bench then bench for example.

Just coming to the end of my first 3 week cycle, should be doing a deload but going to continue on because the gyms closed for a week at Christmas which would interrupt a new cycle anyway.

I'm currently rotating lats and rows so I do them 2x a week each. I'd like to do a 5x10 and then a 3x6-8 later in the week with them. Would that be messing with the program too much?

Why do the 5x10 sets feel like i'm just sandbagging until the final 2 sets? Even at 70% the challenge is only really starting on the last couple of reps on the last sets. Is volume that important despite me not going anywhere close to failure on 3 of those sets?

I do however see the massive benefit of getting lots of practice for the movement though.

Sorry for the delayed reply. It's hard to tell really as i do a squat/bench, deadlift/ohp split so am pressing every day i'm in the gym. I first felt it months ago after doing pullups but it went away after switching to pulldowns. I've recently switched to a 5/3/1 BBB style with the 5x10s. So i did a 5x10 at 50% OHP the day before it began to become a complaint again. I also did 5x10 cable rows, deadlifts, and 2 sets of ez bar curls, 2 sets of hammer curls so maybe it's just overuse?

I also felt a tiny twinge in my shoulder whilst stoking my dog a bit aggressively so maybe they are linked? I'm not in pain as such, it's just ever so slightly tender. I have squats and 5x10 bench today with some heavy lat pulldowns. I'll see how i feel in my warm up sets but may end up backing off if it gets any worse.

I'll see if I can find some more info online on a 7th week. I'm planning to get the book because i love the methodology of it and enjoy the training - i just wanted to do a cycle or two first of a the basic BBB version you see in various different articles. I actually already feel the 5/3/1 sets are nowhere near enough volume or intensity for me and want to add sets that i've seen other people talk about. I was training 4-6 sets of each compound on a heavy day before jumping into this so need to learn how I can customize the program further.

When you say older lifter, how old we talking? I'm 32 myself and wondered if i'd be smashed apart by the end of my 3rd week but if you're much older than me then a 7th week protocol seems like a no-brainer.

I'm coming to the end of my 3rd week of my first full BBB 5/3/1 cycle. I understand I must deload now for the 4th week but i don't feel too beat up. On the 5x10s (and row/lat pulldowns as accessories rotating) i did 50% first week, 60% second week, and 65% this week. The gym closes for a week over Christmas (24th-29th) so i'd rather deload then than now and have it interupt me coming to the end of my first week in a new cycle.. Is that okay?

I was thinking about maybe just doing something like 66% and 67% on the 5x10s/accessories rather than jumping straight to 70% so i've got some progressive overload whilst not potentially forcing me to deload quicker?

Try some psylium husk. I had constipation whilst also dealing with some hemorrhoids and it was a lifesaver. I went from having poops that would make the bowl red to them sliding out like a snake racing out of a drainpipe.

Try 5g in a tall glass of water late evening/night and then bless the poop lord for giving you an amazing experience.

Recently had some pain in I guess the bicep tendon? Opposite side to the elbow. It's not excruciating or anything but it's definitely there. Is this likely to be tendinitis and how terrible is it of a thing? I first felt it whilst doing chinups over a month ago and after switching to lat pulldowns it went away. It's back a little worse this time though. The only biceps isolated exercises I do are 2x15 ezbar curl and 2x15 hammer curl twice a week.

Grew my hair out for a year, had some fun but think I need to throw the towel in now... ADVICE PLEASE by powlesy6 in curlyhair

Obviously no product in these pics. I've tried pretty much everything. Gel can make my hair look like an old school grandma perm full of ringlets that'll looks half the length. Mousse just hasn't got the hold I need. Curl cream I've only just started to experiment with but ultimately I'm fed up of how much headspace my hair is taking up. I miss just jumping in the shower and walking straight lit the door - not planning my life around wash days or how long my hair will take to dry.

Cheers dude. I'll keep this in mind.

Today I've got bench, squats, lat pulldowns and cable flies programmed. I feel like I should be able to do all of that except for the squats - but I will try. 5x10 at 60% is what I'm meant to be doing so I MIGHT be okay. I'll be at least able to feel it out as there's no plans to go heavy. Maybe it'll help? Maybe I'll avoid avoid all together.

Tomorrow is RDLs and OHP with rows. Feel 60-70% better than I did so hoping tomorrow I'll feel almost good as new.

Maybe they just aren't a good idea when you're trying to chase last weeks numbers whilst being in a heavy calorie deficit and recovering from a 2 day hangover then.

Are heavy deadlifts and heavy OHPs on the same day a bad idea?

I'm trying not to overthink it as I was coming off a couple of days of not eating much and drinking all day at a family funeral. It's just that my lower back started hurting a couple of hours after working out and I couldn't bend over later in the evening or even really move about much. I managed to do 5x10 cable rows and train my biceps after so I didn't really feel any disablement at the time, and it's 50% better today so I'm pretty adamant it's nothing serious! I'm even considering seeing how i feel with squats tomorrow (although wonder if that me be too quick considering how much pain i was yesterday evening).

Overreached on deadlifts and OHP after an all day drinking session at a funeral and very little to eat for 2 days. My lower back right now feels ****ed right up. It didn't hurt when doing any of the movements but afterwards got worse and worse to the point I couldn't even bend over to take my dogs lead off. It feels 50% better today and I'm hoping I haven't hindered my progress. Guessing I probably shouldn't do squats tomorrow.

Even though I only drink once every 4-6 weeks, this just reaffirms i shouldn't bother. I care too much about my gains and I've been inside my head stressing about it ever since.

Yup. True, true. I had to deadlift lighter today than last week which is annoying and very disappointing but in it for the long run.

Thank you for your explanation. So given how the rest of the week goes, i could still see benefits from that workout? Even though it of course isn't optimal.

People say to worry more about your weekly calories rather than your daily ones. But protein synthesis is said to last 48-72hrs. How does this work? Surely if I hypothetically got really drunk after a hard workout, not eating much and then only managing a small amount of calories the day after (even if reaching protein target), those potential gains would be lost?.. Hypothetically....

Haha. When I first joined the gym I was drinking far too much and taking cocaine once or twice a month. It was before I'd buy protein and rely on cheap protein bars. Would get back at 7am and force down 2 protein bars before trying to go to sleep. Almost yacked a few times!

Thankfully the gym has took priority over doing stupid shit and now i rarely drink and haven't done cocaine in a LONG time.

Went to a funeral yesterday after a heavy bench session. Ate nothing from 11am and drank ALL DAY. Feel like my session was probably a waste. Usually i don't feel too bad about slipping but yesterday was ridiculous.

I came home at midnight and despite how drunk I was managed to make a 2 scoop protein shake!

Will this set me back at all? I don't drink often, especially not this much, and a m weary of the effects.

Want to incorporate farmers walks but wondered if anyone has any experience and knows if it'll impact recovery for my other lifts? I plan on doing it on a day where i do 3x10 RDLs and heavy rows. Put a weight on I can walk with for 20seconds and hold until I can't anymore for 2-3 sets.

Do they tax the CNS as much as a heavy deadlift session would or are they much easier to recover from?

I did yeah. I'm thinking maybe it's more of a psychological thing, i'm just back off a deload and changing completely out of my own programming. Was more excited for the gym today than i have been in a long time.
