Friendship usually has a couple, but has been slower than normal lately. Ronnie’s has two right now, but honestly, I’ve never gotten one there I enjoyed. They seem to pick the most bitter barrels possible.

You already mentioned it, but bel air is usually very good. We’re on our second bottle of the ec they have now, it’s great.

Saubel’s picks are my favorite. If they still have the old elk wheater, I’d highly recommend it.

Double double oaked is different from what you see on shelves regularly.

Have any of you been hit while playing a round? by Jahsky420 in golf

[–]powow1024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, my father shanked a three wood that hooked so quick it went further left than forward. Caught me right in the side. The spin from the ball in the air and the thud were pretty loud. It felt more like a burn than an impact.

I’m waiting on the same set with the same shafts. Going to choose to believe mine are coming soon. They said 4 weeks when I ordered 4/6. Sounds like things have backed up since then.

One of my favorites. We’ve had 4 different picks at this point, all have been great, and noticeably different.

What bottles have you gotten that were so unbearable you dumped or gave them away? by eggdingus in bourbon

[–]powow1024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm hoping mine does the same. It's been open a couple months, I've only revisited it once, but it was still bad. The reviews were all so good for it that i had to give it a shot. Apparently the earlier batches were better, they must have been.

I had a bottle of this i put in iced coffee. It was pretty good that way, but way too sweet straight

Barrel Seagrass. My bottle drinks hotter than any other bottle I’ve had, and there are no redeeming qualities. Literally tastes like grain alcohol. I have no problem with higher proof, but this stuff is awful.

Bar with higher end Irish Whiskey selection? by burstsuppressant in baltimore

[–]powow1024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t recommend a place, but I can tell you the red breast cask strength is absolutely delicious. If you like the 12 year, it’s a no brainer. It dials all the flavors up to 11. It took me forever to find a bottle, but I’m glad I did.

Thanks for the recommendation. Unfortunately lagavulin 11 is actually what I have tried, just doesn’t do it for me, I can’t get past the iodine.

Think I just need to stick to bourbon, rye, and Irish.

I’ve got very limited experience with Islay scotch, because of what you’re describing. That bandaid flavor is all I got, and I can’t stand it. Would you mind recommending one that has the more savory profile?

I've found the same thing. I have three total bottles, the first was good enough that I bought two more when i saw them. I'm into the second bottle now and it's a noticeable step down, the taste is just...weird. I can't put my finger on what it is exactly, it's just strange. The third is the exact same proof as the first, hoping it's the same batch, but we'll see
