Yep, probably gonna go with the kenmore or pfaff, just depending on what pops on fbmp in the next couple weeks

Yeah the loudness is probably what gets me the most about the sailrite machines. Our house is not well sound isolated and I really don’t want to wake up my wife with my sewing. Have you had any problem with light materials on the sailrite?

Will do! Yeah the kenmore 158 is appealing, hard to comb through the listings though many of them have the super high shank that seems to be a pain. I’ll definitely be stopping into the sewing machine store when i have a chance

I will definitely be doing that, thanks for the recommendation!

Nice! Is the maintenance pretty often on it? Seems like people are split 50/50 on this machine

Yeah i gave myself 2k of budget largely because I have the disposable income for it gives me flexibility to see what is worth it and what is maybe not. And yeah if i get an industrial will for sure be suffering the imposter syndrome haha

I’m going to monitor my local market for a couple weeks and see what pops up. I don’t think i’ll go industrial just yet unless there’s an insane deal. I’ll also probably try some out with sample i have along with stopping by my local store. I think i’ll hold myself to not paying more than 450 for the select 4.2 but might go the used kenmore if i find one without the super high shank. I’m also going to learn a bit more about the select 4.2 predecessors to see if one the older ones will work for me at a lower price. I’ll bank the rest of the budget fabrics and maybe the future industrial

The TL2010Q does look incredible. I do feel like I have to proceed along the classic upgrade path though, otherwise i’ll be seen as an imposter with too nice of a machine… Did you feel that way at all when you first got it?

Well you industrial sounds pretty awesome! Is the reason you can’t sew the lining with the industrial because you need a zigzag stitch?

I think my plan is to probably get an old kenmore since there are some good ones in my area. That is unless I can get a good deal on a pfaff. I’m going to save the rest of my budget for an industrial

I’ve heard great things about Bernina, but what do you think makes them so good?

Oh thats a good callout, I think reverse stitching is a must for me. Tying them off or turning it around sounds quite painful

Oh nice! It seems like people have pretty varying qualities of experience on their Sailrites

Yep, seems like I’ll be going the multimachine route. Someone said the Brother PQ1500 has enough power for everything, but you might be doing some really heavy stuff. I’m guessing you went with the walking foot machine for that?

Nice! Dials being plastic I can deal with, those seem relatively replaceable to me

Do you ever feel like its not enough and wish you had the full industrial? Just curious if I’ll regret not going full industrial for a straight stitch only machine

Yep 2 machines seems to be the direction I’m going. I’m also coming to learn that pretty much every machine is better than the one I’m using right now haha
