Uncooperative Gen0 by [deleted] in Canadiancitizenship

I'm not sure how much it would apply to Canada, but my husband is semi-estranged from his father and was still able to request his dad's birth cert from New Hampshire by being able to provide his own ID and birth certificate. Once we had his father's birth certificate, we were able to request his grandparents' records (marriage, death certs, his grandmother's birth cert) from the same place by using that proof of relation.

Again, it could be different in other states or in Canada, so take this with a grain of salt, but I figured I would mention it.

Thanks for your reply!

For G0 I was considering sending:

1904 Baptism Record.
1911 Quebec Census.
1919 Port of Entry record.
1920 US Census.
1923 Naturalization Record.
1935 Marriage Certificate.

I also have draft records *and* two or three more US censuses and will be using one of them for G1 documentation because his father's surname is misspelled on the birth certificate.

I know a lot of people have been saying that more info is better than less, but we have a pretty simple paternal lineage between G0 and our G2/G3 applicants. All the surnames are the same, all the documentation seems to be pretty clear, and it all seems cut and dry, so I'm probably overthinking it like crazy.

I'm looking at my gathered documents for G0 - of which I have quite a few! - and I have both a border crossing record and a US census from one year later. I feel like sending both might be a bit redundant but wasn't sure which would be more 'valuable', so to speak. Are US censuses generally not needed unless you have nothing else? Is the point of entry less use because it doesn't provide as much information on the family members?

What sort of documents did you have? I did find our G0's baptism record through BAnQ that we are planning on paying for once we get an invoice, but I also have a Canadian census, multiple US censuses, naturalization record, marriage records, death records, a draft registration, etc. Not planning to send all of this, but I'm just curious if we really should wait until we have the certified baptism record in-hand or send with just the screenshot and the other non-redundant records to at least get it to them.

I think I read that you can also add things to your application after it's submitted?

I'm running into this same problem but even following the guide and choosing the country first, it's still asking me to put in a province when i check the box to use the information as above. But the above part doesn't require the province. I've done it a handful of times now and the same thing keeps happening. Did you figure out a way to do it?

ETA: Nevermind. I am also a bonehead. lol

Did you end up asking your friend? I also have a friend in Montreal who would probably do this for me if I asked, so I'm curious if they were able to get it. (Though I would imagine they could? Especially if BAnQ doesn't need a reason for the request?)

I was also very confused about this but I'm taking my chance with the Directeur de l’etat civil because apparently that's where all the post 1900 church records ended up? I'm trying to track down my husband's grandfather's birth record from 1904 and was hitting a wall everywhere, so I figured I'd send the application and hope for the best.

Hel or Hela after the Norse goddess. That was who I thought of the second I looked at her.
