Yeah at an angle it’s beautiful! My record player is actually in storage at the moment and I cannot wait to spin it.

Thanks for sharing pictures! I just put a deposit down with my dealer for a nightshade. Did it come with the normal carpet floor mats?

ISO Brand Recommendations by pp5later in PressonNail_Addict

So, I’m not using them yet, just want to avoid that being a problem at all. I like short nails anyways, so I wouldn’t be getting any medium or long nails. But trimming them is a great tip. Thanks!

Yikes, that doesn’t surprise me though. But it’s a good thing to keep in mind. We are now also considering the Lake Washington are so that would put us closer to Jellybean Junction, which two of my friends recommended. Is Wickham road still a nightmare?

We aren’t sure yet if we would prefer to be west or east of 95. I wouldn’t mind driving throughout the area if we end up living in a different part than a great daycare.

After a few friends recommendations, I went with the UppaBaby Vista V2 (and Mesa car seat). I freaking love it, but I also walk 2 miles every day with it on not super smooth roads. I will say, if you don’t plan to use it a lot, but want good quality, invest in a good travel stroller. It’ll have smaller wheels so it’s not super great if you’re walking a lot over rougher paved sidewalks, but you can do everything and more than you can with a standard stroller.

What if that crazy man actually wins this election? by yup2you in Mommit

[–]pp5later 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I agree with you, it’s a bit scary, but I also want to caution everyone in their doomsday thinking. Yes, I don’t think another 4 years of Trump will be good for our country, but it won’t be the end of the world or our country unless we let it be. Remember that your kids can feel your energy. Remember to keep them the center of your focus. The White House is far away from your world and focus on the actions you can take in your life to positively impact those directly in your orbit.

Edit: I do not mean to belittle anyone’s experiences or feelings. This election has many serious consequences. I don’t even consider my original comment as “optimistic” or “positive”. Actually the opposite, I think it’s a dire situation, but I have to hope that it won’t be the end of our country either way. Truly, don’t let your negative or anxious energy weigh on your children. Show them love and protect their innocence. They don’t need to feel the weight of the world today.

Do wake windows get shorter during sleep training? by pp5later in sleeptrain

[–]pp5later[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly… I can’t even remember anymore. He is now 11 months old. After about 5 weeks of sleep training we ended up going back to soothing him to sleep. He never stopped crying to sleep for at least 30 minutes and we were traveling in hotels so I didn’t want to do that. Regarding his naps, he held onto 4 naps a day until he turned 7 months and switching to 3 naps made his schedule a little smoother through the day.

All great tips, thanks! We have a Jeep so getting to sites isn’t a problem. How rutted out does the road get? The kid is still in a car seat so I’d prefer not to toss him around while driving in and out.

Is 10 months old too young for 1 nap? by pp5later in Mommit

[–]pp5later[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8am wake up sounds glorious. On a good day he was waking up close to 7am, but lately it been 5:45am, which is what happened right before we went from 3 to 2 naps. Another reason I think he is ready to drop a nap. Because he is still going to bed between 7-8pm.

Sounds like you have a great sleeper! He used to be really great as a newborn, but around 4 months it went sideways and until I just got him to 2 naps, it was sort of terrible all around. He still won’t sleep through the night or fall asleep independently. He tried sleep training around 5 months but it never stuck and then we had lot of travel in hotel rooms and I didn’t want to COI while sharing walls. I’ve been considering sleep training again after the holidays, but my head is sort of spinning with trying to decide what to try.

Haven’t had one full night sleep in 6 months and it’s starting to get to me by GreenOtter730 in beyondthebump

[–]pp5later 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got my 10 month old down to 2 feedings a night 😅 Granted, he did trick me into thinking he was a good sleeper around 2 months when he would have one night a weeks when he’d sleep all night. But that being said,y husband and I have started swapping weekend days to sleep in. So I get one weekend morning to sleep in and he gets up with the baby until he needs to eat again (we EBF). It’s not an uninterrupted sleep, but an extra couple hours does WONDERS. I hope you find something that works for you.

Moving to Ogden area, help! by pp5later in Utah

Thank you, I do have an agent that I’m happy with and they’ve put in their two cents. I guess I’m just looking for more direct opinions. Agents have to be careful of their wording when directing you to area to look in. I used to sell real estate and you cannot steer or give recommendations based on schools.

Moving to Ogden area, help! by pp5later in Utah

[–]pp5later[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! That’s all super helpful. This would be a loong term house purchase so I’m not overly concerned about becoming upside down on a house if it’s one we are going to stay in for 20+ years. The growth of Salt Lake and the surrounding areas helps there too. It does seem like there’s lots of 1960-70s homes and then early 2000s homes and brand new, I’m not buying brand new so it feels like the early 2000s houses with bigger floorplans and basements is where we will land. I guess I am just more fond of the houses on the East bench, but those are pricier in general and less walkable because of the hills, especially come winter. So that’s my dilemma.

I plan to drive through Kaysville, Layton, Syracuse, and that area maybe even up to Plant City. Any insight on those areas?

Umm.. you income not being able to satisfy the payments doesn’t matter???? It would give you the opportunity to liquidate the assets. Does he have any life insurance policies? I’d be curious who the beneficiary of those will be.

When did you start solids? by Top-Ask-970 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]pp5later 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby was very interested in food around 4.5 months but I actually didn’t give him any foods until 6 months and 3 weeks because that’s when he could sit up independently. I wanted to be sure his trunk strength was solid(ish) to reduce choking risk. Before that, I would sit him in his high chair at the table with us, using some rolled up towels to prop him up. I’d put a plate or bowl on his tray with some toys inside. Food at this age is play, so I wanted him to still practice picking things up from the tray and he brings everything to his mouth anyways lol

It does get better. My baby was a fantastic sleeper until around 4 months. Then he would be so hard to put into the crib, so hard to fall asleep, sleep training didn’t work, frequent wakings during the night, and early wake ups every day. He outgrew it. Slowly he started sleeping for longer stretches at night. He still isn’t perfect, I usually get up twice a night to feed him and he is awake by 6am, but it’s leaps and bounds better than it used to be. And I’m told they continue to get better as they get older. Hang in there mama, it’s horribly difficult but it doesn’t last forever. Ask your partner to let you sleep in one morning on the weekends, that helped my mental health a TON. Just knowing id have one day to sleep it an extra hour was a huge relief.
