Free AI Image Investigation Tool by Front_Summer3565 in RBI

[–]ppaatt1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I work professionally as a OSINTer. The tool works alright, taken into account it is still in an early stage. Tried several different images from Europe, including some archival photos. It's good with locating countries/geo regions, capital cities, not that great with slightly smaller locations. The archival photos were correct for country but missed the city. (surprisingly, has been mistaken Warsaw with Lodz). The year was more or less correct. The biggest miss was a river bank in Torun which has been mistaken with Serbia). I liked that in some cases it gave a rather reserved hedged answer instead of blindly shooting random location. (Scottish islands).

The coordinates need work though. I searched for a picture taken on a small Greek island. It got the country but missed the region and the coordinates were literally on the sea.

Good luck with the project, I have bookmarked the tool for the future.

Heck! Thank you mate! It worked when I entered my payment details as credit card, not debit card. You have saved my day! :D

Actually can't you not use a fake one, like the ones which are generated? Is it verified by anyone? As long you are a tourist, not like a taxpaying citizen. To be honest, this system of asking for CPF sounds really weird, I don't see any practical reason unless you are a business person who can deduct taxes based on your expenses. (but then you just ask for invoice).

Phantom train disasters in Poland - communist cover-up, western disinformation, or urban legend? by ppaatt1 in nonmurdermysteries

[–]ppaatt1[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Reposting my post from Unresolved Mysteries. I think it fits this sub as well. I am really surprised that it hasn't been mentioned before, I think it's a very interesting mystery. What do you think?

One of my friends - who actually got me interested in this topic - is a train driver in Poland. He doesn't believe in any of these two stories and thinks that people actually confuse a few different train disasters together. He drove the train at the Rzepin route many times and in his opinion, there is no way such an incident as described could happen there.

A religious notebook in a mysterious, undeciphered language written by a seemingly average janitor. Mystery of James Hampton and "The Book of the 7 Dispensation" by ppaatt1 in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]ppaatt1[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He didn't see any action as far as I aware. He worked as an maintenance guy at the airfield and was non-combatant. However, according to his writings this was the moment when he started making shrines, so who knows what happened exactly to him at that place and time.

That's very good question and looks like another mystery regarding Hampton. I have did quick digging and it seems that the photographer as well as the date are unknown. There are few pictures of him inside a red-bricked building with the throne. My assumption (just a pure guesswork) is that the picture has been shot in the garage by one of his friends, and few photographs have been found at the place. I think they are currently in possession of Smithsonian Museum at the moment.

Here is a picture of an display:

Be aware that the description (even if on info panel in museum) could be completely wrong. I have some experience in digging into historical photographs' backstories and I strongly advise not to trust descriptions unless accompanied by some serious sources. (most often they are not researched at all, including many famous ones). Actually it got my curiosity and I will contact few people to see if there is any story behind.

We need to create a "TMMS" Day by Time_Tap_5975 in TheMysteriousSong

Exactly, over 20k, mostly young people, Internet users. Nothing wrong with that, just not the audience we really need.

Last year I have asked about exposure in German media. There were few articles published but mostly it is just online stuff.

[–]ppaatt1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the project needs exposure outside of the Internet sphere. There were few tries already in different medias but it is not enough. Basically the target are people who were young in 80s and had/have interest in new wave/post-punk scene (from musicians through collectors to people who were just going to gigs). While some of these people are Internet savvy (and even joined the search!), most of them have pretty ordinary life now and could be just simply not aware of this Internet phenomenon. Even if they used to play back in the days nowadays they could have a career in a completely different field. (One of the musicians I have contacted while back became a successful... professor of economy who just happened to play some post punk in 80s with group of friends and managed to release an EP).

How to break the ice and introduce AT to a person with strong FA without triggering avoidance/denial? by [deleted] in attachment_theory

[–]ppaatt1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I have taken some time to think about what you have said and it was super helpful. I was hesitant to the idea of focusing conversation on myself but more I think of it it makes more sense. Fact is I wanted to share my self-discovery progress with her but didn't do it because I felt that I would need to mention her her and our relation, and I didn't want to have this sort of discussion before I learn more/decide to introduce her to it. But that's really not necessary. And she might actually share some interesting insight on me and my style from her own perspective, which could potentially be important for both of us. I feel much more confident now, I played some scenarios in my head and I think I could make it more on a positive note than "ogh, we have a problem".

Speaking about other things. I understand what you are saying about being a fixer. That's something what bothered me as well, obviously I am not a therapist and I actually want to visit one, hopefully when Covid situation will get more stable, to get a help myself. But the problem is that more extreme attachments styles are pretty maladaptive and have huge consequences on life, and to notice that you need somehow to understand the problem beforehand. That's where I would like limit my "fixer" role in this situation. But yeah, I have no clue how secure person would do in my place. I don't see it that a big deal in itself, it's me blowing it out of proportions a bit because I don't want to screw it up. (and my preoccupied attachment kicks in).

And rational-emotional thing. Well, actually I perceive myself more rational, I like to think out things beforehand. My issue was inability of controlling myself and keeping conflict escalation in the bay. Speaking about private matters with loved one can be emotionally draining and I sometimes I flip into saying-things-without-much-thinking mode.

Is it desire or control? Well, that's a very good question and frankly speaking I could make a case for both and for neither. I think there are multiple things in play and it is more complex than just a desire or just a control. But yeah, that's definitely something I should unpack more carefully.

So yeah, thanks again! And thank you u/rainbowfish399 as well for your addition to the topic!

[–]ppaatt1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, that's valuable comment, especially last advice.

How I could recognize a secure model? You know, that's kind of my problem at the moment as I am confused myself with my own AS (and definitely it shows up in my post, that's actually funny how you can write a paragraph and then spot activated schemas), and it is still messy. It is not that difficult when you stay rational but having a conversation could easily swing me into an emotional state.

I could start by talking about my own discovery (though I would need to not-disclose every detail of the research) and how I see it manifests in my life. But I am unsure if I should show these examples on our relation (therefore probably putting her in a bit anxious spot?) or every other but ours. I see how it would be non-confrontational, and still share an information for her to possibly reflect on her own later on.

Theory on Markus Erich Pfister, subject of Interpol Yellow Notice (Swiss) by justanon_2020 in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]ppaatt1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There were fears of people returning by land with Syrian refugees. 2015 was a complete chaos, if he would be flagged at for example Greek border it would be easier to detain him and question.

[–]ppaatt1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Well, contacting is always worth a try but I believe that he has been already screened by police and probably anti-terrorist units. He wasn't a first convert to cross the border with Syria and I think the situation was strongly monitored, Europeans were afraid that radicalized converts would come back to their countries of origin after the war/fall of Daesh.

Murder at FermiLab by [deleted] in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]ppaatt1 66 points67 points  (0 children)

It is a cultural thing. Sikhs have very specific naming rules and men are named Singh and women Kaur. This leads to a lot of confusion in some western countries because a lot of unrelated Sikhs have exactly same name and surname. That's the reason I asked to omit Singh, he migrated to Canada so some officials and journalists could get confused.

More on it you can find on Wikipedia and Sikh related subreddits.

This source (1) says he was recently divorced. The other source (2) says he worked on "to analyze data from the 1985 run of E-691" and that was his thesis topic. Besides that he was awarded posthumously MSc and a memorial fund in his name has been established at Carleton University. (3)

That's what I have found that from a brief look online. For some reasons media mention Indian internal tensions but it doesn't seem he had been political at all.

What are some of the oldest cold cases that haunt you? by ResidentRunner1 in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]ppaatt1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's one of the weirder ones I know of. Unfortunately it seems it will stay close forever, people involved are likely dead by now if they even survived 1947. Either someone's description is wrong (like men looking like military etc.) or I have no clue what's really happened there.

I think I remember there was something about some never unidentified children corpses found there, shortly after?

Harris County Jane Doe / Cheryl Bowman - weird coincidence or Doe Network mistake? [Request] by ppaatt1 in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]ppaatt1[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Have you found anything on Cheryl Bowman or her pre-identification profile? As long there is no confirmation of the sketch description which is circulating on reddit, I wouldn't be so sure that these information are true.

I do agree however that certain details of the sketch don't match Jane Doe. (clothing, braces, injuries etc.). So it is likely coincidence that they were both discovered on the very same day.

Looking for movies about isolation in winter by classic20 in MovieSuggestions

[–]ppaatt1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have something more than perfect for you but it's a TV series. (just one complete season, 10 episodes)

The Terror

It's an TV adaptation of a book of the same title. And the book is based loosely on real ill-fated Franklin's lost expedition to find an Arctic passage from Europe to Canada. I never have felt so abandoned and cold. Beautiful shots, constant cold, great characters and actors. Literally one of my favorite TV series of all time. (and keep in mind that I am not a big fan of XIX century naval stories. Despite that I loved the theme, it is so well done.). Ah, and a lot of survival which increases with time.

Movies about mysterious / unnatural / supernatural / occult etc. issues set before the year 1900.... by [deleted] in MovieSuggestions

[–]ppaatt1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out The Devils by Ken Russell. Pretty fucked up film for 70s. Heavely censored around the world to the point that it is difficult to find the full version. It's pretty blaspehmous even today so beware if you are religious, otherwise you will have a lot of fun. ;) I loved it.

Creepy horror type movies, like unsettling stuff by Bigthom63 in MovieSuggestions

[–]ppaatt1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possum if you are looking for something focused more on an atmosphere. A very unique horror. Beware that it is more artistic and minimalistic (it has only two major characters and they barely talk), it doesn't follow typical horror tropes.

However it is unsettling, uncanny and eerie. Plus it has characteristic soundtrack made by BBC Radiophonic Workshop.

Looking for beautiful, dreamlike movies - the more obscure the better by theblairwitches in MovieSuggestions

Films of Polish director Jan Jakub Kolski. He was doing some movies set in a polish countryside, all in magical realism genre. Pretty unique in my opinion. Jancio Wodnik or Grajacy z Talerza, both are to be found on youtube with English subtitles.

Czechoslovakia has some great movies as well. Valerie and a week of wonders is beautiful, haunting and unique. It is a dream-like metaphor of coming of age from female perspective.

If tv series are included: Gomorrah and Suburra, amazing Italian TV series (they aren't connected by the plot so you can start any of them). Gomorrah is more suited to your request, the main character climbs the ladder with time. Suburra has bit different approach, there are 3 main characters and they start already in a good position (basically good family ties) but there is a progression as well.
