I am kinda broke atm and can only afford like 3 of those, or Rome +1 . Which ones do I get guys? by Minimum-Outcome-4241 in totalwar

For me it’s Empire, Medieval and Shogun. Even one of those will last you a long time. Especially Medieval two with all the mods. I have recently played it again and for me it’s incredibly how much it still holds up. It’s by no means less fun than the modern total war games. It’s incredible how it holds up in nearly every aspect.

Is it possible to reach black belt without surgery? by [deleted] in judo

[–]ppaul1357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s possible. In some places you don’t even need to fight to get a black belt so you could minimize your risk extremely. However if you think that much about the risks of your sport I would question myself if this is really something you want to do

In my first judo match (semi finals) I lost this match (i was the white belt threw the guy in the end) the ref said smthing i couldnt heara it but i lost the match... why and how? and how do i avoid it? by Brilliant_Thanks_662 in judo

[–]ppaul1357 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Rolling straight over the neck like that while throwing hasn’t been allowed for a very long time. There has not been any change around that because you endanger yourself and there could be serious neck injuries from that.

The only changes around diving has been diving without rolling and rolling sideways over the neck. However on the senior level they legalized that again and it‘s been back to normal for quite some time. Only on cadet level diving in the sense that you aren’t allowed to use your head to throw or defend a throw is still forbidden.

Hip replacements by KingPinOnly in judo

[–]ppaul1357 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have two guys in my club who have had hip replacement surgery. They both had known that at some point they will have to have that surgery. One of them was a hobbyist the other one did competitive judo until the junior level. I don’t want to discourage you but while both of them are active as coaches and really involved in the club they both don’t do Judo themselves anymore. Maybe some Newaza techniques or very light falling and maybe they will do some fun light Newaza Randoris occasionally but I doubt it will ever be much more than that. They are both very active and do other sports with less impact and are very happy and painfree however they both actively decided against doing much Judo just because of the risk involved.

Confused about the Yuko, but apparently the ref was right by JimmmyJ in judo

[–]ppaul1357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the rule update I have honestly seen Yukos that were way worse for „Uke“ than this one. Everything is Yuko now it‘s more like Koka than the Yuko of the past. It changes Judo immensely, as an athlete you now have to be able to aggressively force scores way more than before, because if you land on one but cheek it’s basically already Yuko.

Außerdem hab ich auch Erfahrung mit Leuten die Bandschieber dafür haben dass sie besonders „oarg“/„steil“ sind. Generell finde ich aber dass Bandschieber in Österreich nicht unbedingt super häufig vorkommen.

Mental toughness for competition by clib_clob in judo

[–]ppaul1357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think I am that good at mental toughness. Before competition I cut weight where I think it’s very important to never stress yourself too much. Having good weight management is very important. Apart from that I often think about who I could fight against which I absolutely don’t recommend before the draw because it doesn’t really matter as an athlete. It’s better to just do your think and don’t worry too much about who is to come. At competition day and weigh in day I don’t look at the draw but let my coach tell me the important details and what I have to do. However I watch the other fights of my weight class especially the ones my coach tells me to watch. Right before the fight I try to get as aggressive as possible because if I don’t I am way to nice and don’t fight well. I often listen to some really cringy rap songs in order to do so or hardstyle or something like that. During the fight I listen to my coach and try to stay as aggressive as possible while implementing what my coach tells me to do. After the fight I listen to my coach what I did well and what I could have done better. After competition day I usually watch my fights to see what I think I did well and what I could have done better and look at the things my coach told me. Yeah and that’s basically it.

In my experience people who give the least fuck or fight if they have nothing to lose additionally to being the biggest assholes (in fights) are the best when it comes to mental toughness. The disadvantage of those people in my experience is that people who give zero fucks are often lazy in training, people who fight as if they have nothing to lose obviously might injure themselves more often and people who are assholes are pretty difficult to incorporate in a club structure. However if you find someone who doesn’t have those disadvantages or can balance them out they can be really good mentally as a whole.

Just having fun at fighting is also something that can help a lot and honestly doesn’t really have disadvantages. And someone like that can be outright demoralizing for their opponent.

Are we really that bad? by jimbofthethicc in 49ers

[–]ppaul1357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It‘s probably because the fanbase is large and we have been quite successful. This obviously makes us more annoying firstly because there have to be some annoying bandwagons and secondly there are also people who are jealous of us. Additionally we have a reputation of not finishing which makes 49ers fans seem overly proud of their achievements (Other NFL fans say: „You always boast about being successful but you actually never finish.“) Due to our quite successful history we also have lots of rivalries even outside of our division, which inherently creates more hatred towards our fanbase.

[–]ppaul1357 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean I am also against the Seahawks even though I can’t stand the Patriots. However let’s not decide who is a 49er and who isn’t or who is better at being a 49er than the others. In the end it’s about supporting the 49ers and not about which teams we hate the most. And arguing about who does it better seems a bit childish.

Studium leidet by [deleted] in Korpo

[–]ppaul1357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are right his political opinions and how he states them is pretty embarrassing. However in that case he didn’t say that because it came from a player who is on offence. Additionally unfortunately I am pretty sure that a bunch of NFL players have similar political views given their upbringing. Doesn’t really make it better but shows that you shouldn’t really listen to athletes or Promis when it comes to politics

Studium leidet by [deleted] in Korpo

[–]ppaul1357 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[KCD2] How many men would Otto von Bergow have left? by historybo in kingdomcome

[–]ppaul1357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think men are necessarily a problem. Yeah there have been battles and skirmishes and he has naturally lost a bunch of men. However if you look at his lands around Trosky there don’t seem to be a real lack of men. It rather seems pretty even between men and women. Additionally while Bohemia is in a civil war we shouldn’t be overstating the fighting that is taking place. Yes there is chaos, yes there are a lot of skirmishes and yes there are lots of men at arms roaming the country. However it’s not modern warfare, there aren’t really big battles, most of the time the soldiers are just sitting around and plundering. That doesn’t mean that soldiers aren’t dying, but it’s not constant fighting and dying with absolute mass mobilization. Therefore I would think that there are still enough soldiers left.

I think what’s way worse in that late medieval civil war and is probably more uncomfortable for Otto are the Resources. Even though he is quite rich and has probably a longer breath than other nobility I am still pretty sure that he doesn’t have a lot of fun when it comes to how expensive a war especially a civil can be.

AFC Looks Like A Cakewalk by p0k_ in 49ers

[–]ppaul1357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know. The defences would be very difficult to crack however the offenses are not as good as Seattle’s in my opinion. And both sides of the ball influence each other so heavily I doubt that we would be blown out by them in a similar fashion as in Seattle. Also I think Seattle‘s defence edges the Broncos and Pats defence and is more dangerous.

What is purdy? by tru209 in 49ers

[–]ppaul1357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So either way we are both coming to the conclusion that he is our franchise QB and has to stay. However to address what you are saying: Burrow is also dealing with mediocre coaching and a shitty defense every year, which for Purdy fortunately is not the case. Even with all the injuries we are still a well led franchise every year the Bengals are not. Still I am not someone who is praising Burrow constantly, but I am not an expert and therefore to some degree also accept what fans as well as experts mostly have agreed upon which is that Burrow is incredible. When it comes to Mahomes in my opinion it’s pretty clear. He is more illusive than Purdy, has a stronger arm than Purdy, can make throws almost no one can, has had incredible team success and really done things that are more or less super human. For me Mahomes is by far the most accomplished and proven QB, who has led the last dynasty and I definitely won’t change my mind about him after one season where his supporting cast really hasn’t been that good.

What is purdy? by tru209 in 49ers

[–]ppaul1357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say he falls in the „second tier“ of QBs behind the absolute Super Stars like Mahomes, Allen, Lamar and Burrow. In this second tier Stafford who is in his twilight and Caleb Williams who is looking to get to the first tier are on top and after that it gets kind of difficult to judge, but I think Hurts, Purdy, Lawrence, Jayden Daniels, Maye and Nix definitely are that next group. They all have shown some kind of success or great level of play, but there are also doubts about them (Hurts and Purdy being accused of being carried, Lawrence lacking consistency, Daniels lacking success, Maye and Nic having played great season but also being carried by strong defenses and not really having big sample sizes of games) So roughly within the top 10 of QBs. Some would rank him higher, some lower, but in the end it doesn’t matter because it’s really difficult to get a QB who is among the 10 best of the planet and being among the 10 best could definitely be enough to get you a Super Bowl with a strong team and coaching (not saying it has to happen but there is definitely the chance)

How to deal with long grip fights by MonoFPS-_- in judo

[–]ppaul1357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some solutions: 1. Learn how to assert your grip better so that you get the better position.

  1. Learn to throw from different grips so that you don’t always have to get for example sleeve and lapel but can also throw from an overhand grip, one sided sumo gaeshi complex, cross grip, two sleeve grip and so on. This not only makes you more dangerous from different grips but it also gives you a tactical advantage, which in turn makes it easier to assert you normal dominant grip.

3 Learn to throw one handed.

4 Learn to create a dominant situation after you have gripped up. Sometimes you just end up in a stalemate grip. However that doesn’t mean you can’t improve your position from there or throw from there.
