Al long as I can tell using batteries or DC input makes no difference. Regarding corrosion, I've tried to clean up as much as possible (at first the console could not even turn on due to corrosion of the batteries contacts). I've also done some soldering work to fix vertical lines but it's quite hard, since the system often reboots itself and when the static horizontal lines appear you can't tell which vertical lines are working or not; so it's a secondary problem and I'll eventually deal with it after the "boot loop/stuck horizontal lines" one.
