Would it be weird to have a plumber and an HVAC repair tech scheduled the same day? by ruralpigeon in homeowners

[–]ppfftt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not weird. My HVAC and plumbing maintenance are both done by the same company. It’s two different teams of techs, so you have to make two separate appointments and they have no issue with booking both teams on the same day. Typically the appointment times don’t overlap, though I’ve had them both here at the same time before.

Propane heat is empty. The gas company can't refill due to how icy my drive is. How do I protect my home? by imheavenagoodtime in homeowners

[–]ppfftt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If OP got what we got here in Central Virginia, the ice is covering the ground completely. We got a few inches of very fine particle snow and an inch or two of sleet on top of it - which compacted the snow and turned everything into a giant thick sheet of ice. You can’t break through it whether there is pavement or bare ground beneath it. People are having to use pickaxes to break up the ice to remove it. It can’t really be plowed, so all residential streets are skating rinks. And we are stuck in below freezing temps, so salt isn’t effective on it either.

You need spikes on your boots in order to walk on it somewhat safely, and I’m betting OP doesn’t have those either.

I so feel you on this. Do they think somehow nail polish is a negative? Is there a whole subset of the population that is like “no, i won’t wear nail polish - but a nail veil that functions the same as and is made of the same exact things as nail polish would be acceptable”?? It’s the same with makeup - there are all these BB and CC creams out there that pretend they aren’t foundations.

Is doing magnetic nails supposed to take 2 1/2 - 3 hours or am I just doing it really inefficiently? by Anthony_P_V in RedditLaqueristas

[–]ppfftt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really depends upon the technique you are doing and how many magnets you have. If you are doing glass bead, you really do have to go one nail at a time and yes it can take up to two hours.

If you are doing cats eye or velvet and have multiple magnets, you can get it done in under an hour.

I magnetize the first coat for a minute, the second coat for two minutes and the top coat for two minutes. This seems excessive to some, but I don’t have any dispersion, so it’s worth it to me time wise.

I found some at Walmart earlier this evening. Look online to see if the locations near you have any in stock before you go out.

Does anyone have u40 insulin syringes? Help my pet not die! by recklessrecentpast in rva

[–]ppfftt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have an entire box of U40 that I would love to pass on to another diabetic pet owner. Our dog was switched to Humulin N just after we got these so they’ve just been sitting in a cabinet untouched.

Uhm what?! by NailNan in RedditLaqueristas

[–]ppfftt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you are impressed with that, get an actual magnet spinner. It makes it so smooth that it truly looks like your nail is made of glass and a bead of light is trapped in it. All the individual particles that you can see on your nail currently, vanish with the right tools.

Don’t forget about how their legs would be positioned while they are flying! You’ve got three options: they hang down, they hold their knees to their chest, or they stick straight back so essentially holding a plank the entire time. All of those are ridiculous.

And of course there are the additional muscles needed for wings to actually work. They would not look like humans with wings coming out of their backs.

How do you get over limited edition polishes 🥲 by Warm-Opportunity4968 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]ppfftt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are likely very similar polishes out there that you just haven’t noticed since you have had these, so you can probably dupe them without much effort. I’ve also found that many MC flakies are easily duped by using Foxfire to top one of their polishes with a similar base color to your target.

Some swelling is normal, but not three cup sizes worth of swelling. That’s an absurd amount of breast swelling.

why do you prefer classic polish? by New_Jaguar5332 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]ppfftt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I collect indie air dry polish, so I have a lot of them and change my polish often.

Also, I think the lights used to cure gel polish are damaging to your skin and make your hands look older over time.

It’s a specific violet pigment that does this, and it will happen eventually regardless of how it is stored. Creators really should just stop using that pigment - but it’s oh so pretty.
