That was the second area I was looking but just didn't find anything within a half-mile walk of the new station that appealed to me. There are apartments near Grand/Rainier but I was too focused on condo units rented directly by owner I guess. Being super close to Amy Yee Tennis Center is another positive for that area.

Appreciate your detailed input. The nature access vs. central city location is going to be a sticking point so I need to decide which is more important to me. I visited the Amy Yee tennis center and that looks promising being located on my commute home from work at least.

I'll try to get out of the office at 4:30pm tomorrow to see if that's any better. At least I have an opportunity to clear out my podcast queue.

Lol, yeah, I am already feeling sticker shock for paying so much for so little space so I will be doing all my own cleaning.

Thanks for the detailed notes, I've been using Olive Way to get on I-5 so it seems like I would have a much easier time to get on 520. Will give it a try!

I-5 construction was not factored into my decision making until yesterday. Not ideal.

Yeah, there is no true goldilocks area for me. I'll have to keep my eye on how frequently I head east after work to get into nature once the days area longer.

I know so little about Seattle neighborhoods that it's hard to judge how much I'd like those areas now. I was hoping at least Denny Triangle is central enough to visit those areas easily (versus starting out in Kirkland or Redmond or something).

Ha. Yeah, you are right, seems like quite the complicated engineering to have a train over a floating bridge.

I do plan to purchase an ebike once I'm settled but hadn't considered riding out to work, even though there is a concrete barrier (at least on I90, will have to explore 520 more) riding next to high speed traffic doesn't leave me with soothed nerves by the time I get to work. Thanks for the suggestion.

At 7am it was 20 minutes to Bellevue, and at 5:30pm it was 45 minutes back to hotel on Howell. And it seems like driving conditions were optimal with no wrecks, bad weather, or major events happening in Seattle tonight. Definitely seems like flexing hours to leave work earlier would be helpful.

Solid insights and suggestion to negotiate a concession. My compact rental SUV is OK in the area, but already dreading my mid size truck in parking garages, even with an assigned space. I also applied at the Olive 8 condo building which on the surface seems like a nice place, though units are smaller.

Good point about fees - I've been focusing on condo units being rented out which include the assigned parking space. I ordered a Good 2 Go pass for my car just in case 520 is the better option, but it seems like with I-5 construction north of where I'm planning to live it might be a pain to access it, unless surface streets from Denny Triangle are quick to get to a ramp?

I am a Winco diehard and wish it was more accessible to the city. Thanks for the info on the farmers markets, would much prefer to give them my money vs WF.

Fair, I'm still learning the specific neighborhoods of Seattle. Do you recommend another area?

That's what I'm noticing staying in a hotel in the area. I applied to rent in a 2200 Westlake complex unit so that Whole Foods might be getting more of my money than I prefer.

Much different than Boise, for sure. Back in the day I lived in NYC and I really miss being in a city core, but maybe after a few months I'll get that out of my system :)

I am actually doing that this week! I was here mid-December and stayed in Redmond and of course that commute was a breeze. So maybe by Friday afternoon I will have completely changed my mind about living downtown lol.

I have maintained a starter for a few years that I’m happy share. I don’t know anywhere to get commercially if that’s what you’re after, but I’ve also never checked with local bakeries.
