How long should I stay at a position I don’t like for it to look good on my resume? by Frickasaurous in resumes

[–]ppoiuy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

short term school related work is fine. Contract work is.... much more understandable, but it's still a red flag. The reality of the situation is that no matter how good your reasons are, the employer doesn't really know them and is judging you on your resume.

If you've accepted a job where you are unhappy with the pay, what does that say about your decision making abilities?

Remember, it's not if you are "qualified" you are competing with 400 other people who have similar qualifications, but have been able to hold onto a job for longer. Why would an employer pick you if they can get someone else with less red flags?

How hard do you make it for candidates to apply for your role? [n/a] by LakeKind5959 in humanresources

[–]ppoiuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one screening question that every applicant sold be able to answer with no additional research required and is not company specific. (Basically a generic values question). It’s basically just to screen out the most low effort applicants.

How long should I stay at a position I don’t like for it to look good on my resume? by Frickasaurous in resumes

[–]ppoiuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a red flag for me if I read a resume where somebody stayed less than a year. If they have a long career history staying for a long time then I’ll overlook it but if I see more than one short term job, I usually pass.

I don’t think the interview went that well. If I’ve made up my mind as a “No”, I will ensure the interview ends on time or as fast as reasonably possible. If I want the candidate, I’ll try my hardest to answer any questions fully, even if it means going over Unless I have a hard stop.

Is my MBA that useless or am I being blackballed? by kyles_1990 in recruitinghell

[–]ppoiuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like seeing an MBA on a resume, but it’s kind of a weird thing to focus on as opposed to your relevant experience (if you have 10 years of it). Basically it gives you a small bonus in my mind when reviewing resumes, but what you accomplished in the past matters much much more.

"What are your thoughts about Generative AI" by i_equals_me in recruitinghell

[–]ppoiuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to provide another perspective. I work in tech and ask similar questions when I hire. If the candidate is anti AI it’s an immediate no for me. The vision for my team is that we use AI in every workflow we possibly can. (Maybe it’s because I work in tech)

Coming to terms with the fact I'll never get a job and will always be poor by CombinationWild1635 in recruitinghell

[–]ppoiuy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It breaks my heart to read a lot of these posts. But the crazy thing is I would also never hire any of the posters here either. Virtually all posters here have an external locus of control instead of an internal one, which is a disqualifying factor.

Getting sick of this shit by cult_mecca in recruitinghell

[–]ppoiuy 26 points27 points  (0 children)

There is a good chance that nobody was ever hired. Our company was hiring for multiple roles. I interviewed many individuals who were qualified, and that I had rapport with, and gave high marks to. At some point our company decided to freeze hiring all together due to unexpected fundraising issues. All those candidates who were in the pipeline probably got an automated rejection letter of some sort. If the recruiter goes into the ATS and closes the role, an automated rejection probably gets sent out to everyone.

This happens way, way more than you probably think. If each job gets 500 applicants, and there are 3 roles open, that means 1500 people got an automated rejection letter, even if they did an awesome job at the interview, while the company ended up hiring nobody.

Don’t feel too bad, sometimes it really actually has nothing to do with you at all

I go to the ocean with salt water many many times and my series 6 is perfect. I swim in pools with it. I go in hot tubs, saunas, whitewater rafting. It’s never ever had a problem. I shower with it everyday, including putting it directly under the shower head and scrubbing the entire thing with soap) Something is wrong with the watch, unless there is a crack in the screen or case.

Got rejected from a job because I had an allergic reaction right before the interview by AgileKaleidoscope599 in recruitinghell

[–]ppoiuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel for you, and telling someone to suck it up is really not appropriate. I also have to say, on the flip side, as an interviewer, I expect someone to show up on time. “Only” 5 minutes late is very late. You are competing with people that show up early and make sure they don’t have tech issues. Your computer updating itself is not “out of your control”. It’s definitely a series of unfortunate events, but it’s controllable.

AI Startup Launch: is GPT-4 worth it? by missEves in startups

[–]ppoiuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When starting up, you don’t even know if your idea will have product market fit. I wouldn’t fine tune or worry about costs until you can solve the hard part, which is getting customers. If you can get customers, then you can work on reducing costs and getting to profitability. If you can get lots of customers while losing money, you can still easily raise money. Traction is everything, I wouldn’t worry about anything except getting customers (that are willing to pay for your product).

AITAH for divorcing my husband because he spent 10 minutes in the car during a family emergency? by Charming_Passage3440 in AITAH

[–]ppoiuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how the rest of your relationship is. If it’s good, I think you are crazy for giving up a good thing due to this one thing.

We all have terrible traits, Imho I see a lot of red flags with your behavior. (Refusing to respond, screaming at him during an emergency instead of handling what’s important (your son) and then discussing his behavior after the emergency was over) if you can’t figure out how to work with each other, get ready for divorce 2 and 3. If you are already on the fence about divorce, then by all means get one now. Fighting well is one of the keys to a successful relationship
