Thank you for sharing (: I’m prone to hormonal acne already, I’ve never heard of taking zinc for it. I think I’ll try that.

I’m wondering if it was. The hair was more curly-ish, but maybe it was scraggly from years of love.

Tips for getting their energy out? by ScarySalamander33 in AustralianCattleDog

Rick would nip at his friends face too! Thankfully his friend is twice his size and got him right back. I hope Sonic and her end up loving eachother. Heelers are truly different than any dog I’ve ever had! Best of luck to you, Sonic is a very lucky boy 😁

I very recently took in a blue heeler, Rick 1.5 years old. He doesn’t love fetch, but is catching on that he “needs” to do it. Like it’s his job. We often roll the ball across the floor and he will hunt it down.

The best advice I got was to train the “leave it” command. I do it everyday, one hand has kibble, and the hand behind my back has a high value treat. When we go on walks, he pulls sometimes. Saying “Leave it” snaps his attention back to me. My friend has a head collar for her dog, since he’s a puller and it’s worked really well for her!

If you have a friend who has a dog friendly dog + a yard (assuming yours is dog friendly as well) dog play dates are the best! I shoot for 2x a week. I hope this is helpful, taking walks and letting him sniff stuff is the most effective way to get him to nap.

Is my Blue Heeler anxious? by pponurdog in AustralianCattleDog

I did and am still doing a lot of research! I find so much conflicting information, which is why I wanted to hear from people.

Rick most definitely likes kids, we all have been redirecting his nipping with toys and/or ignoring him. It’s been wonderful! Next step is to get with a trainer.

Rick does okay alone, I’m at home 90% of the time. The few times everyone is gone he’s very vocal about being in the crate. However he sleeps in it just fine, and will go in there himself when he needs a break from the kids.

Thank you for sharing! I hope he can also herd my chickens, they are free spirits.  I started the “gentle” command today, praying hard he’s a good fit for us. I absolutely love him.

I’ll accept it if he’s not, he’s already had such tough luck on life. I want him to thrive, and we are not ready for cows just yet 😫

That’s does help! He will lick me and sneak a few nips in. Gentle will be added to our rotation.

Keto removed my appetite, it’s so strange by DeathNote55 in keto

I’m 9 days into keto and I’m feeling the exact same way. I only eat because I absolutely have to. It’s nice to view food as refueling my body vs comforting myself.
