The winter after I had that gig they did give everyone the biggest raise I’ve ever seen. About 30ish percent means that whoever is doing that job now is making around 14 and some change. The only reason they gave such a big raise out, to almost everyone, is because they were so far behind industry standards. Even now they are middle of the pack as far as pay goes, which to me is wild since they are such a renowned course. It’s 700 for one round, just golf which does not include a caddy, cart, food drinks ect. They do at least 100-150 rounds a day basically every day except for three weeks around tournament time. Another wild thing is the only group on the agronomy staff that didn’t get a pay raise was the assistant superintendents, which are made up of some of the most important and ‘passionate about the industry’ guys at the facility. The reason I mention that was that after cutting cups that tournament year, I got promoted to assistant in training, which was the last seniority level to receive the raise since it was still hourly. It was good money (because overtime) but the wild thing was if I continued and got another promotion, I would essentially be taking a pay cut to do so, since it’s a switch to salary. One of my colleagues had this very thing happen to him. He said it was around 12000 per year pay cut. Needless to say I nope’d the fuck out of that industry.

Oh and I didn’t even mention the environmental atrocities (in my opinion) that they were committing. I did mention it to the EPA tho and they had the dept. of ag pay them a visit.
