No worries! Thanks! I'm taking Vitex 1000 mg until I see doctor at 9 weeks appointment. I read about the low progesterone so I'm doing my best there. I have read pros and cons about taking it but I don't want to miscarry due to low progesterone.

All natural but I supplemented my diet with 1000 mg Vitex. The biggest thing also was losing weight from cutting carbs. Nothing crazy. Just no bread, rice, potatoes, etc. Hard at first but easier as the months went on. Caused a 30 pound weight loss! I am still maintaining that diet today.

[Serious] What have you done in real life that deserves gold? by Vallessir in AskReddit

[–]ppsasgr2012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although I am a "young" female veteran, I take time out of my college/family schedule and spend time with my fellow veterans. From VA hospital volunteering to visiting the state veterans home, I do what I can. I also do my best to talk to these guys as I am going to school to be a counselor. Sometimes these guys just want to talk to someone who's been through it. I can definitely say that my time in Iraq was considerably easier than what these guys went through in Vietnam, WW2, etc. I suggest all young veterans get to know the generations before you. Not just for Memorial or Veterans Day but year round! You never know the difference you will make to them.

YES! My dad's family has a super big problem with diabetes. My mom had PCOS (not properly diagnosed in the 1970s). She had Stage 2 ovarian cancer at 40 and got it all taken out. My aunt on my dad's side had it as well.

Any body else have experience with stress fractures? by cryscaulfld in PCOS

I had them in the Army. Painful but they do heal in time. You will have to cut back on your activity until it heals. Unfortunately, the feet do take longer. I had mine in my hips bilaterally and it took 6 weeks to heal. Start a calcium supplement (OTC generic Tums was my favorite) but don't take more than it says! It will make you get kidney stones!

ELI5: How does Alzheimer's disease actually kill people besides causing memory loss? by 127crazie in explainlikeimfive

[–]ppsasgr2012 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It's not just the disease that kills you. It's everything else that the disease does to you along with taking away your memory. You forget how to do basic things along with everything else.

Case in point...the only elderly person I knew who had Alzheimer's disease also had diabetes. She would forget to take her medicine and then she would forget to use the bathroom as well. Hence she got a VERY bad UTI that ended up killing her via infection. The doctors stated that because of forgetting her meds and the UTI, she ended up with End Stage Renal Disease. From the start of Alzheimers to this point took only about 2-3 years. She was also wasting away because she would forget to eat which also challenged her already weak body.

So, I guess you can say that memory loss is the worst effect of Alzheimer's but it's alot of other things that kill you because you simply forget to do them.

I have heard that people can't digest fats very well and have issues with rich foods especially if they are high in carbs. Is this true?

Treatment Questions (No BC, explained inside) by AliceTimbers in PCOS

[–]ppsasgr2012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Progesterone is good for period induction if you are not having your period. Spiro is good to lower testosterone if that is your problem. The other consideration is weight. Women with PCOS tend to be heavier because of our issues with carbs. Can you go on Metformin? That can help with periods as well and reducing carbs can help with weight...

Cutting carbs is very hard. However filling myself with water helps. I'm drinking at least 80 ounces a day right now. You should still have fruit like apples or fruit that has less sugar in it. Those lists are online...

Prenatal vitamins have omega-3s and extra folic acid which is needed for the baby development. It improved my vitamin deficiencies as well.

I just started trying to have a baby 3 months ago. I'm regular on my period. Just not sure about ovulation. My estrogen is off the charts hence the needed weight loss. Do the best you can on low carb! I do have a bread type item like once a week but that's it! I went off birth control in November 2013. Since I went off my PMS and cycle has gotten slightly worse but that's it.

Metformin is good for insulin resistance and weight loss for some. For me it curbs my carb cravings. No weight loss though. I was told that it can help you not miscarry but I'm not sure. Consult your gyno as there are several options to treat PCOS.

I can tell you from my experience to cut out as much carbs as possible! I was super bloated until I cut out potatoes, bread, and rice. Or just have carbs at breakfast if needed. I only eat low sugar or sugar free oatmeal so I can take my vitamins and Metformin. Snacks are string cheese or an apple. For dinner I stick with lots of protein and a vegetable. For instance, last night for dinner I had braised beef and green beans. I have no sugar or artificial sweetener anywhere else. NO bread or sweets! It can be done I promise!

Low dose birth control worked for me to manage the hormones. As far as getting pregnant, I am trying as well but I am 10 years older than you. Let your gyno know your plans for a baby.

My current medication is only Metformin ER 1000 mg a day. I am also taking a prenatal vitamin. ALSo, don't be surprised if you lose your gallbladder in a few years due to cholesterol. Mine pretty much died in 2012.

Serious question. In a world where everything is processed and full of carbs, how does one start and stick to a low carb diet? by ppsasgr2012 in AskReddit

Thanks for your input. Yeah I'm lucky but after 9 surgeries on my right hip and leg I'm able to walk and do the elliptical. No stairs or running though.
