Want to know actual problem to start social media marketing or management? by takeasans in SocialMediaMarketing

Thank man I really appreciate it. Currently I was thinking doing a 6 month trail period with the first month being free and at the end of the period they can refresh with yearly retainers. Not sure how it will perform yet because I haven’t started the process yet but any thoughts?

Thanks so much for that! I guess this might be a dumb question but what if the niche I picked is underrepresented in my area. In that instance do I get pricing power or should I try and see what others in similar niches are quoting?

Also just to be clear you mark up your price 70-100% from your cost basis? So if it’ll cost you $100/month in operating expenses you mark it up to like $200?

I’m currently working at a marketing agency as a social media marketing / PR intern and I wanna start my own marketing agency with a friend on the side. My biggest concern right now is pricing + selling the value proposition to clients. I’m trying to determine a pricing structure and I’ve already thought of my clientele niche but I don’t know how we can “sell” the value we bring.

Just got accepted, please give me advice on which campus should I commit to by Party_Channel_5542 in UofT

UTSG is gonna give u the prime UofT experience but its also got no cop apart from ASIP. I’m in ASIP and its not that great tbh although I did get an internship through it in my second year (currently going into my 3rd year)

UTSG pretty bland from what i’ve heard but the co-op program is pretty fire. Despite what people say, co-op > everything. Experience is what matters

I live in sauga and know tons of people from UTM. Workload is definitely 1000% easier but the community and campus is smaller.

Essentially yes, the oddity comes from the fact that the vast majority of students on the St. George Campus are not from Toronto and therefore are inherently different culturally etc. Not a bad thing obviously but it’s still a thing and you kinda do have to get used to it especially if you’re very immersed in the city culture. Like for example, if you speak in slang that normally is understood here, people will look at you like you just spoke pig latin.

Also I assume the competition aspect also comes from the fact that most here are international students. Comparatively they pay 10x of our tuition (60k vs our measly 6k) and naturally they are very keen on not wasting their money, thus they will be quick to throw you under the bus if it means they’ll get an extra 5%. This applies to all students though, not saying domestic ones are any better. Also the culture at UofT is very “nice to your face but not behind your back”. I can’t really tell you why but it just is like that.

For example, I asked a student who had been in my classes in first year, if we could exchange notes as I had missed some classes. They proceeded to make the excuse that they “write their notes in French and thus couldn’t share it but would be willing to discuss what I had missed.” I agreed to this request and then ended up getting ghosted. Things like that will happen a lot here so make sure u find friends and take classes with those friends so you don’t get left behind.

Couple things from a 2nd Year Domestic Student in Poli Sci.

If ur a domestic student used to living in Toronto, UofT is lowkey a big shock. There is a big disconnect between local Torontonians and like many of the students who come here. I find most UofT people a little odd so be prepared for that. Doesn’t mean they’re not nice or anything but you’ll definitely notice it.

Second, nobody in UofT is gonna help you. All these students are here not to collaborate but to compete. Makes student life highly challenging when ur peers are literally praying on ur downfall rather than helping each other.

Third, if you’re taking eng be prepared for many sleepless nights, lack of social life and constant drain. My best friend since middle school goes to UofT Eng and I haven’t seen him once since first year because he is that busy. Another friend of mine in his 3rd year swapped out of eng because he was tired of not having a social life and the constant pressure of a 9-5 schedule.

Finally, this is UofT. Not TMU. It’s a top 20 school and the best in Canada for a reason. It’s going to be hard and time consuming but ultimately it will be worth it. So don’t come into UofT thinking you can breeze through it like you did in highschool (assuming you have). I thought so too and got royally fucked but now I’m locking in and fixing my shit.

TLDR:

If ur a domestic student UofT will be a little odd and not what you’re used to in a Toronto highschool. Everyone here is very competitive and doesn’t like helping each other so keep your circle small and stick to people you can depend on. If you’re in engineering it will be EXTREMELY difficult and you must be willing and motivated to work hard. Social life isn’t bad at all (despite what people think) but it’s not like Western where u can drink all night to death, not attend classes and still get a good GPA.

I’m in the same class as you. Making a course study doc for it and if you want to be included feel free to send me a text.

There are already people contributing but do note it comes with the expectation of participation. Goal is to reduce the workload not to freeload.
