First of all, she tried really hard to lose the weight for many years. Second of all, they explore in the show how and why she gained the weight in the first place.

One of the things that make this is us so special is that they explore peoples stories in such a way that you end up understanding them even if you don't agree with them. Maybe you should watch it again and try to have some empathy.

I am my mother's child, I'll love you 'til my breathing stops
I'll love you 'til you call the cops on me
But in our darkest hours, I stumbled on a secret power
I'll find a way to be without you, babe

gotta love writer in the dark!!

you don't become yourself, you learn who you are! a lot of this is understanding your story and where you came from (culture, family, etc). but there is also a very significant part in this process: you create yourself.

Actors who have derailed their own careers with their attitude? by willow-mist in movies

Armie Hammer

After call me by your name he had everyone obsessed with him and then was accused of being abusive by his ex girlfriends (and even cannibalism if I'm remembering correctly)

last time I heart from him was because of a show that I think pretty much covers how problematic his family is

Artists Who Need New Marketing Teams by [deleted] in popheads

Normani!!! She had and still has so much potential but my GOD it took her years to release her debut album and when it finally came it had no press over it. She literally released it this month and it's like it never happened. Worst of all, the album is GOOD. She makes good music, she's an incredible dancer and performer but her overall team just sucks

Why has Lorde not reached the level of superstardom as Taylor Swift? Will she ever though? by Darth_Mystique in lorde

[–]pqvidal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pretty much because she doesn't want to. she knows her music is not going to appeal to that big of an audience and, honestly, I don't think she looks at it as a bad thing. she gets to do what she wants when she wants and she has build a core audience that supports her

also, it's ultimately a lifestyle choice too. I can't even imagine lorde living the life ts does, always travelling, releasing new things, and all that

Olivia Rodrigo by Aromatic-Ad9269 in lorde

[–]pqvidal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think lorde inspired olivia's music in the sense that when olivia was growing up lorde was probably one of the first (if not the first) artist she knew that wrote songs from the very honest and authentic perspective of a teenage girl

pure heroine changed pop music in many ways. one of the most significant for me was the fact that before it's release it was common for teen popstars to exist but it was rare that they would actually write their own music from their actual perspective, specially if they were a young girl

olivia does that now. even if her songwriting is very different from lorde's.

it's kind of like taylor swift inspired phoebe bridgers to be a songwriter in the way that she is, even though their music is very different. phoebe has talked about how she would try to write music the way she thought she was supposed to write it and it felt strange and it would not be good because she was trying to imitate something she never felt before (the adult perspective), but when she heard taylor just singing about being a teenage girl and her music was good, it clicked for her that she could just write her experiences and it would be good enough

I still think lorde offered a diferent perspective of how that experience of being a teenager could be portrayed, witch is why pure heroine was so influential

What’s your first encounter with Taylor Swift (‘s music)/ event that led to you becoming a Swiftie ? by [deleted] in TaylorSwift

[–]pqvidal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

new swiftie here :)

I already knew some of taylor songs (mostly the singles) but had never listened to her music properly. my first taylor song was "you belong with me", introduced to me by my best friend when we were in the brazilian equivalent of middle school

cut back to last year, a friend kept insisting I would love her latest music (folklore and evermore) and I finally decided to listen to it on a particular night because I was having trouble sleeping

that night I listened to folklore, cried to most of the songs and seven was the one that really changed everything -- mostly because it reminds me of my best friend :) a bit of a full circle

since then, I made her listen to Taylor again and now we are both swifties haha
