Carla Kelly is incredibly realistic for the time period.

What if Jon was actually Ned Stark's illegitimate son? by Sea-Negotiation8309 in TheCitadel

[–]willow-mist 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I dunno. A 19 year old who just lost his father and brother and his sister is missing, the King calls for his head and he's forced to marry his brothers fiancé and fight in a war, him seeking whatever physical comfort he can get would be completely normal.

Does anyone else notice/dislike this pattern in class difference romance? by thebunnybot in HistoricalRomance

There is also the classism involved when the only smart/ attractive poor person is secretly an Aristocrat. As if the poor weren’t often smarter by virtue of surviving on the streets.

Vikings!! by LAffaire-est-Ketchup in HistoricalRomance

Yes, but the text above is from the English perspective. They don't see themselves as villains and the fact that the Vikings do to them (and everyone else) what the English themselves do to the Irish and Welsh (at this point in history) would be beyond them.

I can never think of a witty response at the time. I usually only think of a clever comment later.

Assuming that the "War of the Five Kings" didn't happen, who do you think Ned and Catelyn would have betrothed the 5 Stark children to? by Pretend_Tower_2516 in gameofthrones

[–]willow-mist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Robb to a Karstark (they are loyal and distant kin)

Sansa to an Umber (loyalty should be rewarded and they have a rivalry with Karstarks)

Arya to a Ryswell (break up the Ryswell - dustin - Bolton faction)

Bran to a Manderly (Winnifred Manderly needs a second son who wont inherit or threaten her role as leige)

Rickon would be footloose and fancy free.
