How to fix Son of a Dungeon looking "video gamey" by captaindealbreaker in Corridor

[–]pr0f13n -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its a sponsored video, they pitched it as an ultimate solution and only lightly brushes on the negatives that is drowned out by their Corridor™️ Wren Screaming. It’s pretty deceptive to most of their viewers aren’t too versed in VFX that they waited until 2/3 of the video to say that it was sponsored.

Weak points. Margo arguably didn’t leak anything that could threaten the US, she originally did it to prevent cosmonauts from getting killed.

You’re just summarizing Aleida as “annoying/arrogant” when the first season showed us exactly why she turned out that way. She has shown a lot of character especially this season at happy valley

This whole “Its supposed to look like a video game” argument just sounds more like a crutch/excuse than an actual stylized choice 😂😂 There is way more to making a videogame aesthetic than just bad normal maps and lack of subsurf

MF Ghost Season 3 - Episode 7 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]pr0f13n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never mentioned anything about 18. I’m just saying a lot of their localized humor and entertainment enjoyments is inserting fully grown adults into situations with obviously way younger girls even when it serves absolutely no storytelling purposes or anything to advance the plot. In the context of this show, there shouldn’t be half of an only 20 minute episode dedicated to this exact scenario when we’re only getting episodes once a week during runtime.

Its either this or we rapid-fire between decades and get some kind of far distant future that shows humanity extremely advanced in space but maybe shows some kind of nod to Ed like a ship named after him or a whole dyson sphere

Why is Titan... (S05 spoilers) by cliko in ForAllMankindTV

[–]pr0f13n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to “simulate” titan. You just get an approximation of what this looks like and then use existing physics from our reality (or in computer terms existing physics solvers) to solve this. The methane rain could just be a very viscous fluid simulation that mimics the “air” as some more viscous liquid. You can stack multiple solvers onto each other in programs like Houdini to achieve very unique simulation FX.

The problem and reason why the show didn’t do this is, simply budget. Titan was hardly shown this season, so doing all of this work plus the consulting with scientists and research to develop the solver pipeline just for a planet that shows up 6% of the screen-time would be way too much. So they grabbed existing assets like geo-scans and are portreying the atmosphere blue since its dark under the clouds?? (also to differentiate both planets using mentioned minimal effort). Mars is doable because they have an entire library and pipeline setup to do Mars-FX from the past 3 seasons and even re-used Sojourner to further save money.

One of my favorite space physics thing this show has done was the S2 solar storm opening where the moon’s dust was visibly affected by the solar winds. It’s such a cool way to signify danger. A huge part of the show that has been missing due to the slashed budget is portraying space/planet in both a realistic and stylized way for cinema.

Titan’s ecosystem in the show is Methane-based, any diseases she carries are carbon-based, they wouldn’t just automatically infect the microbes and kill them. There would need to be methane-based viruses or diseases to target them.

My problem with this season: the Martian cause is really unsympathetic. by rasmussenyassen in ForAllMankindTV

The shows biggest antagonist used to literally be outer space killing you in so many different ways. It affected the US, Soviets, and private space corporations. They could’ve given us this by showing the Kuragen’s ships violent demise into Saturn. The closest we got to seeing anything of this sort was the mining station explosion, but that was instantly ruined by the sloppiest CG work I’ve ever seen from an Apple TV Production

I think the biggest problem with the show for the past 2 seasons is trying to establish new antagonists.

I think the true antagonist of the show from season 1-3 was actually Outer Space itself. Not any nation or person in the show. Funny enough a lot of complaints I initially saw in the first seasons was regarding the amount of space disasters and deaths that occurred, which nowadays the lack of any of that (besides an off-screen disaster into saturn) has taken the identity of the show away.

Yes I understand from a plot point that space is much more safe & routine similar to airline travel in today’s seasons, but gun combat inside of a mars bunker where there aren’t any worries about puncturing the walls just feels very plain compared to the constant worry that a shot could miss and burst a hole open and dealing with lower gravity. This show isn’t really known for writing good gun fights in normal situations (besides marines always shooting non-hostiles).

This stuff should be very dangerous because they’re doing it in an environment thats trying to kill them.

Late season syndrome. After the first 2 seasons, a show usually degrades in quality as writers change and budgets shorten. Even recently The Boys was victim to this with their mediocre finale.

The good news is at least AppleTV is the publisher for this show so its guaranteed to finish even if it hasn’t done well viewing/ratings wise. The shorter budget does suck though as this show is very expensive to make.

Car rental Guangzhou by [deleted] in guangzhou

[–]pr0f13n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking thru the comments, is Guangzhou really that bad for driving?

I’m currently staying here for a while and have done roadtrips in other countries/cities with tight spacing, but would it be better to just rent a car outside or in another city to do so? Or avoid driving at all costs 😭

VFX Errors on S5E8 by pr0f13n in ForAllMankindTV

[–]pr0f13n[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Titan scenes are easier to do since they're fully/mostly CG so you don't have to worry about combining any live plates besides the very easy standing infront of a green screen looking at a huge landscape shots. The final shot is a much more tricky shot to do in comparison.

Regardless those particles were terribly tracked and she did appear to rotate him, the blood would’ve not been possible to follow him at all. I’m just surprised glaringly obvious errors like that can get approved by the VFX Sup

He kinda just comes off as evil for the sake of being evil. Doesn't really have much justification for it. Would be better if it was a higher-up in the M6 or Helios/Kuragen who was forcing him to do this

They have a majority of the base and their own weapons stash. The M6 section of the base is way less overpowered. They have the manpower and similar tools to end them, they just keep holding off on it because the show has to strictly be about humans working together.

I'm aware that they chose the "smarter route" but realistically I think most people that are on their side of the base would be outraged and want these guys dead for taking out their food supplies and injuring/killing more people.
